Job Title: SAP Functional Analyst

Job Description

The SAP Functional Analyst plays a key role in optimizing Order-to-Cash (OTC) processes and aligning the functional capabilities of SAP S/4HANA with strategic business goals. In this role, you analyze and improve existing processes, translate business requirements into effective SAP SD solutions, and ensure that configurations and integrations support efficient, end-to-end sales and distribution operations. You act as a subject matter expert for Order Management, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and system integrators to design, configure, test, and deploy SAP S/4HANA solutions while mentoring a small, collaborative team through an implementation into a new tool.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing Order-to-Cash (OTC) and sales and distribution processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that enhance operational efficiency and support strategic business objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure SAP S/4HANA configurations align with business goals and functional requirements.
  • Conduct workshops and interviews with stakeholders to elicit, define, and document detailed business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories.
  • Design and configure SAP SD (Sales and Distribution) modules, including sales order management, pricing, billing, and credit management, to meet business needs.
  • Manage key project tasks and workstreams such as data migration, integrations with other systems (e.g., FI/CO, Materials Management, Logistics Execution, Purchasing), and related project activities.
  • Create test plans, write test cases, and coordinate unit, integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure system changes and enhancements function correctly and meet requirements.
  • Support and lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and go-live activities, ensuring a smooth transition to the new or enhanced SAP S/4HANA solution.
  • Develop training materials and provide training, coaching, and guidance to end users so they can effectively use the SAP system and new functionalities.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving post-launch issues related to Order Management and SD processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights into Order-to-Cash performance and related KPIs.
  • Work closely with system integrators and executive stakeholders to align solution design with business strategy and manage expectations.
  • Operate as an embedded subject matter expert within business teams, providing ongoing functional guidance and best-practice recommendations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes to ensure seamless electronic document exchange with trading partners.
  • Oversee or support integration and middleware-related activities to ensure robust and reliable data flows between SAP and other systems.
  • Manage batch jobs and transport requests within SAP to support stable and controlled system operations.
  • Plan and execute data migration activities, including data extraction, cleansing, loading, and validation, to ensure data quality and consistency in the target system.
  • Mentor and support a small, intimate team, providing leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing as they move through an SAP S/4HANA implementation and adoption of new tools.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2+ years of SAP functional experience in the assigned domain, with a strong focus on Finance and Order-to-Cash processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations, including at least one full end-to-end implementation of approximately 12 months’ duration.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes across Order Management, Finance, and related supply chain functions.
  • In-depth functional knowledge of SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA within the OTC/SD module.
  • Proven experience writing detailed functional specification documents and performing hands-on SAP configuration in SD.
  • Experience supporting or leading user acceptance testing (UAT) and go-live activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with system integrators and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate as an embedded subject matter expert within business teams.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience, including coaching and supporting team members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify and troubleshoot complex business and system issues and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, manage expectations, and train end users.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining EDI processes to support electronic document exchange with trading partners.
  • Familiarity with integration and middleware technologies used to connect SAP with external systems.
