The Opportunity
Good Company is a neighborhood cannabis store opening this spring on Manhattan's Upper West Side. We're building a place that feels like visiting a trusted neighbor — warm, welcoming, and never intimidating. The name says it all: we are the good company you keep.
We're hiring Budtenders who want to be part of something from the very beginning. You'll be one of the first faces our customers see when we open our doors. That means you won't just be filling a role — you'll be helping define what the Good Company experience actually feels like. If you love talking to people, you're genuinely curious about cannabis, and you take pride in helping someone find exactly what they're looking for, keep reading.

What You'll Do
You're the person on the floor. You set the tone for every visit — whether it's someone's first time in a dispensary or their hundredth.
• Welcome every customer and guide them through our product selection with patience, warmth, and real knowledge
• Learn our full menu across all categories — flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, vapes, tinctures, and topicals — and stay current as products rotate
• Listen to what customers are looking for (an effect, an occasion, a price point) and make thoughtful, personalized recommendations
• Process transactions accurately through our POS system, including age verification and compliance checks
• Maintain Metrc compliance for every sale — scanning, tracking, and ensuring seed-to-sale accuracy in real time
• Keep the sales floor clean, stocked, and visually on-brand — curated shelves, clear signage, nothing out of place
• Handle cash and card transactions with precision and follow all cash management procedures
• Support inventory receiving, counting, and restocking as needed
• Stay informed on New York cannabis regulations and ensure every interaction is fully compliant
Who You Are
You're a people person with substance. You don't just enjoy talking — you enjoy helping someone make a great decision and watching them leave happy.
• Previous experience in retail, hospitality, food service, or customer-facing roles — cannabis retail experience is a plus but not required
• A genuine interest in cannabis and a willingness to learn the products, strains, effects, and terminology deeply
• Warm, approachable demeanor — you make people feel comfortable, not judged
• Comfortable working on your feet for full shifts in a fast-paced retail environment
• Detail-oriented with cash handling and compliance procedures
• Reliable and punctual — your team depends on you being there
• Flexible availability including weekends and some evenings
• Must be 21 or older
What Sets You Apart
• You've worked in a licensed cannabis retail setting and know the rhythm of the floor
• You have experience with Metrc or another seed-to-sale tracking system
• You can speak knowledgeably about terpenes, cannabinoids, and product categories without making it feel like a lecture
• You live on the Upper West Side or nearby — you already know the neighborhood and the people in it
What We Offer
• $18–$22/hr depending on experience, plus tips
• Be part of the opening team at a brand-new store — not many people get to say they were there from day one
• A beautiful, thoughtfully designed space that you'll actually enjoy working in
• Paid OCM Responsible Workforce Training (required by the state, covered by us)
• NYC Paid Safe & Sick Leave from day one
• Employee discount
• Real opportunity to grow — we're a single store today, and the people who help us build it will have first priority as we grow
• A management team that treats you like a person, not a headcount
