Safety Representative

McCourt Construction is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Safety Representative to support and promote a strong safety culture across our construction projects. The Safety Representative will work closely with project teams to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices. This role is hands-on, field-based, and ideal for a safety professional looking to grow within heavy civil construction.


A Boston-based diversified General Contractor with a rich history dating back to our founding in 1893, McCourt Construction prides itself on tackling the Northeast's most complex civil projects, with our Heavy Civil Division specializing in large public works projects, and our Energy Division focusing on expanding America's most complex projects in the electric, gas, and steam industries.


Duties will include, but are not limited to,

  • Supporting and enforcing McCourt Construction's Safety Program on heavy civil job sites
  • Conducting daily and weekly site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits
  • Identifying unsafe acts and conditions related to heavy civil work, such as: excavation and trenching, traffic control, and work zones, heavy equipment operations, fall protection, utility installation, and restoration
  • Assisting with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and toolbox talks
  • Monitoring compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and site-specific safety plans
  • Participating in incident, near-miss, and property damage investigations
  • Maintaining accurate safety documentation and reports
  • Assisting with employee, subcontractor, and visitor safety orientations
  • Partnering with field leadership to implement corrective actions and improve site safety
  • Promoting a proactive, team-oriented safety culture


Applicants should have the following qualifications,

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction safety (heavy civil preferred)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
  • Familiarity with heavy civil operations and common job site hazards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in active construction environments
  • Proficient with basic computer applications
