Safety Engineer

As a Safety Engineer you will lead and implement environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Drive continuous improvement through hazard identification, data analysis, and proactive safety initiatives while serving as a champion for safety culture through promoting awareness, training, and partnering with leadership and associates to maintain safe and compliant working conditions.

Every day as the Safety Engineer you will...

  • Manage and oversee the plant safety program
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
  • Create and implement EHS training programs
  • Communicate and enforce safety policies and procedures
  • Lead and facilitate Safety Committees, investigations, reporting and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver OSHA training and any other safety training programs to associates while maintaining up-to-date safety records/documentation.
  • Lead team members in the Risk Management process (TABRA)
  • Gather and review safety and environmental data to report and present information to leadership
  • Maintain waste management operations to comply with environmental regulations including waste handling and disposal.
  • Complete technical duties in connect to EHS assessments
  • Guide teams through complex safety issues/programs by working with leadership (coaching/developing leaders in safety) and associates to promote safe work environments
  • Drive change in culture toward proactive safety behaviors
  • Apply incident data, leading indicators, and trend analysis to drive decisions
  • Manage safety-related projects
  • Other duties as assigned

To thrive in this role, you must...

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred and 2 – 5 years of experience in Safety, EHS, or related fields
  • Strong knowledge in OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal kills
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to adopt and maintain a strong safety culture
