Full-time RN House Supervisor (Inpatient Psychiatric Nursing)

Shift Option:

Full-time / Nights: 7:00p.m. - 7:30a.m. (every other weekend rotation)

Responsibilities

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

​Responsible for day to day oversite of nursing operations of the facility and ensures staffing is adequate to provide care. When scheduled, oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. As needed, collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • ​Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed
  • ​Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety
  • ​Enforce and interpretpolicies for the delivery of patient and resident care.
  • ​Ensureproper staffing for each unit,keeping staff ratio, appropriate staffing for patient care needs, covering call-offs and vacation time.
  • ​Ensurechart checks are completed, seclusion/restraint log is up to date andnursing assessments are completed, as well as MAR’s and report sheets are kept accurate and up to date.
  • ​Roundsare completed at the beginning of shift and perform random audits.
  • ​Assistnursing leadersto make sure all staff are oriented and competent to perform required duties. May include coaching staff.
  • ​Provide mentoring and training as needed.
  • ​Assistthe nursing leadership teamby ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards.
  • ​Ensurethe effective delivery of competent, compassionateand safe care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes on the patient care units.
  • ​Coordinate all care rendered topatients, including physicianorders and diagnostic information,and ensure consultations are ordered.
  • ​Documentmedical,behavioral health information and nursing care.
  • ​Administer medications and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • ​Assist in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives and interventions defining actions unique to eachpatient'sneeds. Assist in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when thepatient'scondition changes.
  • ​Prioritizetasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • ​Leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, as well as informing physician of changes in the patient’s conditions. Adjusts staffing accordingly.
  • ​Utilizeadministrator-on-call for situations that require additional attention.
  • ​Provides direct care as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • ​BSN from accredited school of nursingpreferred.
  • ​Currentregistered nursinglicense in State of facilityrequired
  • ​Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred.
  • ​1 yearof experience as an RN in any setting required.
  • ​1 year in psychiatric/recovery programspreferred.
  • ​Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

​Currentcertification or license topracticewithin the state where the facility is located.CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

​First aid may be required based on state or facility.
