Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Retirement Analyst to join our team. The ideal teammate has a strong financial background to join our team. This role involves providing in-depth financial analysis, optimizing retirement plan structures, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Essential Duties
Retirement Plan Analysis & Design:
Lead the analysis and design of retirement plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and non qualified deferred compensation plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
External Partner Management:
Oversee Pension, 401k and Deferred Compensation third party administrators.
Coordinate the quarterly Pension and Investment Committee Meetings.
Serve as primary contact for Benefit Plan Audits and lead the coordination of the audits and financial statement preparation with third party Auditors.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare and analyze complex pension plan reports, actuarial evaluations, distribution reports and financial statements.
Review distribution reports and funding data to ensure accuracy and Compliance.
Review all Payroll deferrals and distributions for accuracy and timely funding to the appropriate plans.
Retirement Projections & Forecasting:
Utilize actuarial tools and modeling to develop and analyze retirement projections, forecasts, and funding strategies.
Leverage external actuarial and administrator partners to assess plan health and advise on strategies to optimize funding and sustainability.
Plan Administration:
Support the administration of the retirement plans including plan changes.
Leverage the administrative support of the HR Operations Shared Service team to optimize the employee experience including participant communications, training, and integration with payroll and other systems.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution:
Identify potential risks and issues related to plan administration. Proactively resolve issues, escalating when necessary, and providing recommendations to mitigate future risks.
Employee Education & Communication:
Advise on content for employee workshops, presentations, and one-on-one consultations to educate plan participants on retirement benefits, investment options, and plan changes.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business, or related field (Required)
5+ years of experience in retirement plan administration, pension consulting, or a related field. Strong understanding of defined benefit, defined contribution, and hybrid retirement plans.
Proficiency in retirement plan software, spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), and actuarial modeling tools.
Knowledge of pension calculations, funding strategies, and retirement plan regulations.
Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex retirement concepts to clients and internal teams clearly and effectively.
In-depth knowledge of retirement-related laws and regulations, including ERISA, IRS, DOL, and PBGC rules.
Qualifications Preferred
Certifications: Enrolled Actuary (EA), Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), or similar certifications preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to manage client expectations and navigate sensitive or complex issues.
Experience working with pension and retirement plan stakeholders (e.g., actuaries, plan sponsors, trustees, legal advisors).
Ability to adapt to changing regulations and organizational needs.
Proven track record of driving improvements and efficiencies in retirement plan management.
