Job Title: Medical Endoscope Repair Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on the repair, assembly, calibration, and functional testing of medical endoscopes and related optical equipment in a clean, ISO-compliant environment. You will work at a bench, often under a microscope, handling very small components and performing detailed, repetitive tasks to ensure each device meets stringent quality and performance standards. New hires complete a structured six‑month training program that progressively builds skills from basic tasks to more advanced repair and diagnostic work across rigid, flexible, and optical endoscope systems.

Responsibilities

  • Repair medical endoscopes in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform assembly and functional testing of medical endoscopes, ensuring all units meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Aid in the diagnosis and service of medical endoscopes by identifying faults and determining appropriate repair actions.
  • Follow repair and material control policies, procedures, and work instructions in compliance with ISO quality standards.
  • Capture and document quality and performance data for analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Report concerns, issues, or trends to the customer service team as required.
  • Identify and report any malfunctioning or damaged parts, equipment, or tooling to management.
  • Carry out calibration, repair, testing, and troubleshooting of medical equipment and related components.
  • Work at a bench performing detailed, repetitive repair tasks on small and large diameter endoscopes.
  • Use microscopes, test equipment, hand tools, and other instruments to inspect, assemble, and repair small components.
  • Prepare work orders and repair quotes after testing incoming devices, supporting accurate communication with customers.
  • Progress through structured training levels, starting with winding work and level 1 tasks, and advancing toward higher skill levels.
  • For optical repair assignments, work extensively with very small cameras and lenses, often 50–60% of the time under a microscope in a clean room environment.
  • For rigid endoscope repair assignments, perform less complex bench-based repair and testing work on rigid scopes.
  • For flexible endoscope repair assignments, perform more complex bench-based repair involving some electronic components and detailed inspection.
  • Adhere to all ISO quality standards, cleanroom protocols, and company policies at all times.
  • Perform other related tasks as requested by management or supervisors on an as‑needed basis.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all interactions.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of assembly or repair experience in a technical, mechanical, or electronic environment.
  • Hands-on experience as an assembler, repair technician, or bench technician.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills for working with very small components.
  • Ability to work comfortably and accurately under a microscope for extended periods.
  • Experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers, tweezers, and similar precision tools.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, test procedures, and ISO-compliant quality standards.
  • Familiarity with repetitive, detail-oriented bench work in a production or repair setting.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and/or electronic issues.
  • Ability to learn and perform calibration of medical equipment with training provided.
  • Capability to work with test equipment and follow test procedures for functional verification.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom or controlled environment while following strict protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Either 2+ years of relevant technical experience or an associate degree; a degree is not required but is considered an advantage.
  • Experience working with small components, such as in phone, laptop, jewelry, or watch repair.
  • Prior experience in medical device assembly, repair, or quality inspection.
  • Experience with electronic repair of computer circuits, boards, or similar electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with soldering, electronic assembly, and the use of soldering tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings.
  • Experience using microscopes in a production, laboratory, or repair environment.
  • Exposure to ISO quality systems and cleanroom operations.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, calibration tools, and other electronic test instruments.
  • Expierence as a bench technician, test technician, or similar role involving detailed bench work.
  • Comfort working with tedious, repetitive tasks while maintaining high accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong technical aptitude and interest in building skills up to advanced or master-level repair tasks.

Work Environment

You will work in a cleanroom, temperature-controlled environment at a dedicated bench, focusing on testing, calibration, and repair of medical endoscopes and optical components. The role involves frequent use of microscopes, precision hand tools, and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and calibration devices. Work is highly detailed and repetitive, requiring careful handling of very small parts and strict adherence to ISO quality standards and cleanroom procedures. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility to start at 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. depending on individual needs. Wearing scrubs is recommended, and they are provided upon conversion to permanent employment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
