Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support a cutting-edge autonomous systems development program. In this role, you lead an Agile Release Train (ART) made up of multiple vendors and government teams to develop and deploy systems capable of autonomous decision making based on internal and external sensors and data feeds. You provide agile coaching, facilitate agile processes, manage risks, and drive execution to ensure the successful delivery of mission-critical value. You plan increments and releases that align with stakeholder and organizational goals while fostering strong communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Agile Release Train (ART) by facilitating core processes, managing risks, and driving execution that aligns with stakeholder and organizational goals.
  • Plan, organize, orchestrate, and report on capability releases and program increment (PI) performance to inform decision making and drive delivery.
  • Lead and facilitate PI Planning events, ensuring all teams on the ART align to a shared mission, vision, and set of objectives.
  • Adapt Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices to fit the organization’s unique needs and constraints.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all teams on the ART, encouraging experimentation and learning.
  • Establish SAFe principles by implementing program-level Agile practices and ceremonies.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve ART efficiency and flow, increasing value delivery to the end user in every iteration.
  • Lead the ART’s Lean Agile Center of Excellence transformation efforts to mature agile practices and ways of working.
  • Provide agile coaching to teams and stakeholders, using metrics-informed practices to evolve performance and outcomes.
  • Bridge communication gaps by effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including vendors and government teams.
  • Support multi-vendor integration activities and ART synchronization to ensure cohesive delivery across all contributing teams.
  • Contribute to requirements building activities to ensure clarity, feasibility, and alignment with program objectives.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVE

  • 8+ years experience
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).--Agile at a minimum
  • Experience as a Release Train Engineer or similar role.
  • Requirements Building
  • Active SECRET security clearance (required).

HIGHLY DESIRED

  • Strong understanding of DoD processes and military operations.
  • Experience leading multi-vendor integration efforts within the DoD.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or consulting role.
  • Experience as a Systems or Software Engineer.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required).
  • SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.

Work Environment

You will work as part of a large, collaborative program team of approximately 160 engineers focused on delivering innovative, bleeding-edge autonomous systems. The work centers on new development and advanced technology being delivered directly to end customers, offering substantial opportunities for impact and professional growth. You will be one of the first engineers from your organization at the Tampa site and will receive strong support from the broader program team. The position follows a hybrid work model, with three days onsite and two days remote each week. The environment emphasizes camaraderie, close partnership with the customer, and continuous innovation in a mission-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
