Location: 100% Remote (PST hours) - MUST BE IN THE SACRAMENTO AREA

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Reimbursement Analyst III to support true provider reimbursement and cost reporting for a large, complex healthcare system. This role is focused on Medicare and Medi‑Cal cost report preparation, HCAI (OSHPD) reporting, and reconciliation to the General Ledger and financial statements.

This is not a revenue cycle, billing, claims, or AR role. Candidates must have direct experience preparing Medicare Cost Reports (CMS‑2552‑10) and working within a finance/accounting reimbursement function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and support Medicare Cost Reports (CMS‑2552‑10), with direct ownership of worksheets, allocations, and supporting schedules
  • Perform cost allocations, step‑down methodologies, and reconciliation of cost report data to the General Ledger and financial statements
  • Prepare and submit HCAI (OSHPD) reports, including supplemental filings, for California health systems
  • Analyze Medicare, Medi‑Cal, and CMS reimbursement methodologies and assess financial impact to the organization
  • Support desk reviews, audits, and field audits, including review of audit adjustments and management of appeals
  • Develop reimbursement analyses, financial impact models, and variance explanations based on regulatory changes
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, GL, and Budgeting teams to ensure accurate and compliant cost reporting
  • Maintain documentation to support regulatory filings, audits, and compliance requirements
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
  • 2+ years of direct healthcare reimbursement experience focused on cost reporting
  • Hands‑on experience preparing Medicare Cost Reports (CMS‑2552‑10) with worksheet ownership
  • Strong experience with General Ledger data, cost allocations, and reconciliation to financial statements
  • Experience with HCAI (OSHPD) reporting for California health systems
  • Knowledge of CMS, Medicare, and Medi‑Cal reimbursement methodologies
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and reimbursement appeals
  • Advanced Excel skills (data reconciliation, modeling, complex formulas)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in large, multi‑facility or complex health systems
  • Exposure to managed care modeling tied to reimbursement and cost structures
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and multi‑year reimbursement projections
  • Strong collaboration skills with accounting and finance stakeholders

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
