Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to serve in a correctional facility setting. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories, to determine immediate and ongoing healthcare needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, including injections, IV infusions, and wound suturing, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Manage acute pain cases, perform triage assessments, and prioritize care based on severity of conditions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Document all patient interactions meticulously within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans for inmates with chronic conditions or complex medical needs such as dialysis or cardiology issues.
  • Provide health education and coaching tailored to the unique needs of incarcerated individuals, including medication management and disease prevention strategies.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, including trauma incidents requiring trauma medicine expertise or Level I trauma center protocols.
  • Maintain infection control standards and ensure sterile processing of medical equipment.
  • Support discharge planning and coordinate with external healthcare providers for continuity of care post-release.


Experience

  • Proven experience working as a registered nurse in acute care settings such as hospitals, emergency rooms, ICU, or trauma centers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Epic; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding is preferred.
  • Critical care experience including ventilator management, airway management, or ICU procedures is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities, geriatrics, behavioral health needs, or memory care requirements.
  • Prior exposure to correctional health environments or long-term care facilities enhances suitability for this role.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, specimen collection/processing, and basic life support certification.
