Regional EHS Manager

The EHS Manager leads environmental, health, and safety compliance and performance across assigned operations, including support of the Mapleton Deport, PA and Montpelier, VA plants. This role ensures regulatory compliance, integrates EHS into daily operations, and drives continuous improvement through strong partnership with site leadership, operations, maintenance, and corporate EHS.


Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & EHS Leadership

  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, EPA, OSHA (as applicable), and all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, enforcement response, and timely closure of citations and audit findings.
  • Manage environmental permitting, including renewals, modifications, and support for site expansion.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Conduct routine audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Deliver and coordinate required MSHA and other EHS related training.

Environmental Programs

  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, EPA, OSHA (as applicable), and all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Safety & Health Programs

  • Integrate MSHA compliance requirements into daily operations and maintain required records.
  • Lead site safety inspections, workplace examinations, and hazard identification processes.
  • Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring (silica, noise, chemical exposures).
  • Lead the site EHS Committee and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Manage injury reporting, workers’ compensation coordination, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support emergency response planning and on-site incident management.

EHS Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement and maintain EHS management systems including training compliance, recordkeeping, contractor safety, management of change, and corrective action tracking.
  • Utilize EHS data analytics to identify trends and drive risk reduction strategies.
  • Promote company Standards of Conduct, Stop Work Authority, and Core Values integration.
  • Partner with corporate EHS, insurance representatives, and regulatory agencies.
  • Additional Duties and tasks as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS program management experience in manufacturing and/or surface mining.
  • Experience managing both environmental and safety compliance programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of MSHA regulations; OSHA knowledge as applicable.
  • CSP or CMSP certification, or ability to obtain within two (2) years.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience leading MSHA inspections and EPA permitting at the site level.
  • Strong regulatory interpretation and compliance management capability.
  • Effective incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
  • Industrial hygiene monitoring experience.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and travel as business needs require.
