The City of Wilsonville Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a friendly and energetic Recreation Program Assistant to support summer programs, community events, and outreach efforts. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with the public, being part of a team, and helping create memorable experiences for our community.

The Recreation Program Assistant plays an important role in supporting the Parks & Recreation team with community programs, events, and summer activities. This position provides hands-on experience assisting with program coordination, customer service, event support, and outreach efforts that help bring our community together.

This position reports directly to the Recreation Coordinator II and will work 20-30 hours per week including some evenings and weekends.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist with recreational programming and community activities
  • Support promotion of programs through social media and web content
  • Provide front desk coverage at the administrative building and community center as needed
  • Assist with answering phones and responding to Parks & Recreation email inquiries
  • Help develop outreach and promotional materials
  • Perform daily summer camp check-ins with camp providers and staff
  • Assist with event set-up, staffing, and clean-up for community events including:
    1. Movies in the Park
    2. Concerts in the Park
    3. Community Party in the Park
    4. Sporting events and other recreation programs
  • Help plan and implement community pop-up events such as Chalk the Park, park tie-dye activities, story walks, and other engagement opportunities
  • Provide excellent customer service to community members and participants
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Interest or experience in recreation programming, community events, or customer service preferred
Required Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver license required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with social media platforms preferred

  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, and computers

Additional Information
Work Environment: Work is performed both in an office setting and outdoors during programs and events. Employees may work in varying weather conditions including rain or heat.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, and drive; use hands to handle objects and equipment; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to bend, kneel, crouch, or lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Cognitive Functions: This position supports a collaborative team environment while assisting with event coordination and recreation programming. The role requires organization, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while working with the public.
