Summary:
The R & D Technician will assist with the development, optimization, and commercialization of new personal care products. This role is responsible for performing lab experiments, batch testing, formula and product evaluations, and periodic lab equipment management. This position requires a person that works well as a team member with optimal time management skills in a fast-paced high-volume environment to execute against project goals while ensuring adherence to company standards, timelines, and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support the development of high-quality formulations, specifications, and requirements through bench-scale experimentation and data analysis
· Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on formulations using standard laboratory equipment and data analysis
· Adhere to standard operating procedures on accuracy, safety compliance, and proper documentation
· Maintain a complete, accurate, and well-organized laboratory notebook, including experiments, processing notations, observations, results, conclusions.
· Evaluate alternate raw materials against controls, by completing side by side experiments and evaluating physical properties.
· Perform product comparison evaluations through testing and data analysis to provide clear technical summaries to support formulation decisions.
· Assist with prototype and sample development to support customer requests, as well as requirements for product testing
· Exhibit team player qualities of cooperation and coordination; professional interaction in all business contacts
· Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines; essential and mandatory.
· Maintain reliable attendance and schedule flexibility, including ability to work extended hours as required to meet workload demands

Education & Experience Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related scientific field of study
· Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience; professional lab experience is preferred, college laboratory experience will be considered
· Experience with Microsoft applications- Word, Excel, and Power Point

This job operates in a professional laboratory and office environment and routinely uses standard laboratory and office equipment such as hot plates, pH meters, viscometers, foam height apparatus, mixers, balances, and computer-based tools.
