Supervises the R&D team members on the floor, coordinating and directing their daily workflow. Ensures that projects in R&D keep moving to completion within the allotted time frame by directing the resources available, while working closely with, and providing technical guidance to the other R&D team members as well as the engineering department to develop and build prototypes, perform testing to identify and mitigate risk in “New” or “Existing” product, and identify critical manufacturing techniques to facilitate implementation of new product launches. This is a working on the floor position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Input on developing project schedules and resource requirements.
Leads R&D technicians and welders.
Manages day to day activities to complete projects on time.
Leads weekly project team meetings. (Project Boards)
Leads daily R&D team meetings. (Daily Boards)
Identifies and communicates risks within the department.
Provides advice and guidance to R&D personnel.
Coordinates movement of equipment to and from the test sites.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist with assembling the prototypes and is expected to be observant and proactive in considering more efficient ways of assembling units when they go to production.
Assists with and performs testing and analysis of FECON equipment, OEM equipment and the various systems with close attention to detail.
Application specialist
Participate in customer demo's and product training
Provides product launch support to production, product management, marketing, sales and product support.
Acts as a field test operator, operating machinery at the factory, test farms and customer jobs/sites.
Completes reports, records test findings and presents issues in a professional manner.
Travels when required – up to 30%.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must have good organizational skills
Must be able to create accurate, well written reports using various programs; Word, Excel, etc...
Must be able to operate heavy construction equipment.
Advanced knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, engines and power train systems.
Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
Ability to read weld and fabrication prints is a plus.
Self-motivated and has strong problem-solving abilities with a talent for thinking outside the box.
Ability to work efficiently and professionally in a high stress environment with the understanding that priorities and assignments will constantly change.
Strong communication skills.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience operating heavy construction equipment, Fecon equipment is a plus.
5 years’ experience working with hydraulics, electronics, engines and power trains.
