Job Summary

This contract-to-hire role focuses on calibrating RF test and measurement equipment in a lab environment, with some local customer site support as needed. You will work with equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, function generators, frequency counters, and power meters. The role also includes troubleshooting, documentation, and maintaining calibration standards to support accurate, compliant measurement results.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment to published specifications
  • Perform in-lab calibration of RF test and measurement systems, including signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers
  • Run tests to verify power, frequency, modulation, phase noise, and related RF performance characteristics
  • Troubleshoot circuits used in RF transmission and support fault isolation on test equipment
  • Identify and repair faults in finished assemblies and make adjustments as needed
  • Support on-site maintenance and service calls for equipment that cannot be moved from customer locations
  • Maintain primary, intrinsic, secondary, and working calibration standards
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of precision equipment
  • Develop calibration procedures and methods based on specifications, drawings, blueprints, and technical requirements
  • Collect, measure, summarize, and record calibration data
  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective actions such as adjustments, component replacement, and correction factors
  • Identify and correct measurement errors when applicable
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates
  • Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards, and techniques for unique measurement tasks
  • Perform uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and related processes
  • Maintain documentation of test cases and calibration records
  • Perform routine antenna capability testing
  • Work with technicians, customer service teams, account teams, and customers as needed
  • Perform general lab housekeeping and other assigned duties

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of hands-on RF calibration experience in a calibration lab, military calibration program, or similar environment
  • Experience calibrating equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, function generators, frequency counters, and power meters
  • Experience running RF calibration tests for power, frequency, modulation, phase noise, and related measurements
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, align, and optimize precision equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • General math and algebra skills
  • Understanding of basic statistics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical writing ability
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ANSI Z540
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and follow written procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Preferred

  • Formal metrology training
  • Military calibration program training, including PMEL or equivalent
  • Experience with wireless networks, land communications systems, antennas, and RF engineering environments
  • Preventive maintenance experience
  • Experience in commercial calibration environments
  • Supplemental RF coursework or military electronics training

Work Environment or Schedule

  • Full-time, first shift
  • Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Primarily lab-based work in a professional setting
  • Local travel may be required for customer site support, up to about 2 hours one way
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
  • During the contract period, on-site customer visits are for training alongside an experienced technician
  • Relaxed dress code, such as a polo or other neat shirt, jeans, and closed-toe shoes

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
