Job Title: Quality Inspector
Job Description

The Quality Inspector ensures that incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products meet established specifications and standards. This role performs detailed visual and dimensional inspections, documents results accurately, and works closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials received from vendors for approval, rejecting and arranging the return of unacceptable materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform First Article inspections on initial production items and communicate required adjustments to production and engineering supervisors before granting final approval.
  • Escalate quality issues promptly to the Quality Manager and/or Production Manager when nonconformances or recurring problems are identified.
  • Inspect finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and returning products for rework when necessary.
  • Verify that reworked products meet all specifications and document confirmation of successful rework.
  • Document inspection results by completing accurate written reports and logs, and by entering data into the computer system, database, and related software.
  • Read and interpret customer and company documentation, including blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawings, inspection instructions, and checklists to perform inspections correctly.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and test equipment to verify dimensions and product characteristics.
  • Perform various manufacturing-related tasks as assigned to support production and quality operations.
  • Maintain a clean, efficient, and organized work area, following housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and adhere to established quality and production procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to complete inspections within required timeframes and support production schedules.

  • High degree of attention to detail to identify defects and verify conformance to specifications.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and inspection priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills for evaluating inspection results and identifying issues.
  • Ability to sit or stand in one area for several hours at a time as required by inspection tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs on occasion.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Ability to read and understand customer and company documentation, including blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawings, inspection instructions, and checklists.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and measuring.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and test equipment effectively.
  • PC and data entry skills for recording inspection results and maintaining records.
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in quality inspection or quality control in a manufacturing environment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production workflows is an advantage.
  • Comfort working with databases or quality-related software to record and track inspection data.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Reliability and consistency in following procedures and meeting deadlines.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position in a casual atmosphere within a manufacturing setting. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime available or required at times based on business needs. Work is primarily performed at an inspection station where you may sit or stand in one area for extended periods while conducting visual and measurement tests. The role involves handling materials and products, with regular lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. You will use precision measuring instruments, test equipment, and a computer for data entry and reporting, including Microsoft Excel and Word. The work area is maintained to be clean, efficient, and organized, and the overall environment supports focused, detail-oriented tasks in a production and quality control context. Dress is casual, appropriate for a manufacturing and inspection environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Norwood, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
