Quality Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
Quality System Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures in compliance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP).
- Ensure adherence to customer-specific requirements and regulatory standards (e.g., FAA, EASA, or military specifications).
Inspection and Testing:
- Perform and oversee inspections of raw materials, components, assemblies, and finished products to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Coordinate and support first article inspections (FAI) per AS9102 requirements.
- Analyze test data and inspection results to identify trends or non-conformances.
Non-Conformance Resolution
- Investigate quality issues, defects, and non-conformances, conducting root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys) and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Document and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and ensure timely resolution.
Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers) to improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen projects.
Supplier Quality:
- Evaluate and audit supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve incoming material quality.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate quality records, including inspection reports, certifications, and audit findings.
- Prepare and present quality metrics and reports to management and customers as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience. Advanced certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) are a plus.
Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industry.
- Experience with aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, AS9110, AS9120) and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA).
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools (e.g., CMM, calipers, gauges) and quality management software.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint reading.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and quality management systems (e.g., ERP, QMS software).
Preferred:
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, composites, assembly).
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of military or space-specific quality requirements (e.g., MIL-STD, NASA standards).
