Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to support our top customers, including notable names in the industry. This role involves managing customer complaints, overseeing the containment process, solving problems, and ensuring effective resolutions. You will navigate customer portals, handle quality system documentation, and support customer visits onsite. This position plays a pivotal role in audits for major clients and requires a hands-on approach from issue identification to resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality specifications for products, materials, equipment, and process controls.
  • Implement methods to inspect, test, and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Investigate internal and external quality issues and drive timely and effective corrective actions for nonconformities.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to determine quality improvement standards.
  • Continuously identify quality improvement factors for processes.
  • Lead the annual IATF Certification process.
  • Submit first articles, PPAPs, and sample parts for customer approvals.
  • Coordinate training with other functional departments for quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within an automotive or similar job shop environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Experience working directly with customers.
  • PPAP expertise.
  • Knowledge of IATF (International Standard for Automotive Quality Management Systems).
  • Understanding of supplier issue rejections.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering-related field (Manufacturing Engineering preferred).
  • Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience in Manufacturing, Metal Forming, Fabrication, and Welding.
  • Strong leadership skills to support and motivate others.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Expert-level data analysis in Excel.
  • Minitab experience.
Work Environment

The role is based in a 250,000-square-foot facility in Indianapolis, known for its clean and comfortable environment. The facility is well-organized with departments such as forming, welding, and pressure testing. The work environment is team-oriented, combining office and production floor interactions. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with a standard 40-hour work week. The position requires wearing long pants/jeans and steel toes or composite boots. Safety glasses, a hard hat, and a laptop will be provided. Expect significant walking around the facility daily.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.67/hr.
