POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Trane Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college intern to join our Quality Department for the summer. This internship offers hands-on experience in quality assurance, manufacturing processes, and assembly operations for water chillers. The intern will work closely with quality engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure product reliability and compliance with industry standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on Summer Quality Project
  • Create quality control plans & inspection checklists from existing risk assessments
  • Support process audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001
  • Conduct data analysis on defect rates and suggest improvements
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop standard work instructions
  • Participate in root cause analysis for quality issues and propose corrective actions
  • Assist in supplier quality evaluations and incoming material inspections
  • Collect data and prepare quality reports for management review
  • Learn and apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Support creation of Measurement System Analysis to ensure inspection equipment is adequate for its intended use, as well as repeatable and reproducible
  • Support analysis and trending of nonconformance & deviation occurrence to target and mitigate reoccurrence for both sub-supplier and manufactured products
  • Assist in the deviation process and process deviation requests pertaining to respective areas
  • Support continuous improvement activities for process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with customer feedback and requests
  • Other quality related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
