Job Title: Quality Systems Coordinator
Job Description
You will support and coordinate all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS), audit processes and products, and ensure compliance with customer-specific and regulatory requirements. You will also lead and prioritize daily quality issue resolution on the shop floor, manage supplier and customer claims, maintain calibrated test equipment, and drive continuous improvement activities. In this role, you hold the authority to stop production or shipment of any non-conforming product to protect product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with current regulations, the Quality Management System (QMS), and customer-specific requirements across all relevant processes.
- Monitor and report on all quality activities, processes, and procedures to maintain high standards of product quality and consistency.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company policies, processes, and procedures related to quality.
- Perform regular layered process audits and internal QMS audits to verify adherence to quality and safety policies.
- Prepare, maintain, and organize quality management documentation, including performance reports and audit records.
- Establish and manage the annual audit schedule, define areas to be audited, and communicate plans and findings to management.
- Ensure the Quality Manual and related QMS documentation remain current, accurate, and aligned with applicable standards.
- Train and update employees in the use of the Quality Management System and support them in maintaining compliance standards.
- Develop, conduct, and support internal and external audits, issue corrective actions, and determine major and minor non-conformances, ensuring appropriate responses are obtained and implemented.
- Conduct Manufacturing System Assessments as part of supplier quality management when necessary.
- Provide quality planning and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) support for new and existing products.
- Manage quality responsibilities related to supplier changes, customer part engineering changes, and process changes.
- Execute all International Material Data System (IMDS) requirements for divisional customers and respond to quality-related customer requests such as supplier and QMS surveys.
- Support contingency planning activities and emergency outsourcing to ensure continuity of quality and supply.
- Coordinate and prioritize resolutions for QMS and customer-specific requirements as well as daily internal quality issues and supplier claims.
- Ensure products and packaging comply with industry standards and agreed-upon customer requirements.
- Investigate daily quality issues on the shop floor, including warehouse and processing areas, and perform line inspections to determine if non-conformances meet claim policy criteria.
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to disposition rejected material and determine appropriate handling and resolution.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working with quality systems in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- 1–2 years of experience as an inspector or quality technician, including hands-on inspection and quality control activities.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001-certified facility and familiarity with ISO-based quality management requirements.
- Proficiency with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and their practical application in daily operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field for the Quality Systems Coordinator responsibilities.
- High school diploma or GED for the Quality Technician responsibilities.
- 3–4 years of overall quality experience is highly beneficial.
- Experience with PPAPs and the approval process is particularly valuable for the Quality Systems Coordinator aspects of the role.
- Experience with ISO 9001 environments and supplier quality management processes.
- Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, fishbone diagrams, and other root cause analysis techniques.
- Experience conducting internal audits, layered process audits, and QMS audits.
- Experience with GR&R studies, process capability analysis, and preparation of related reports.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensboro, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.05 - $28.85/hr.
