Job Description

The Quality Assurance Specialist oversees the effectiveness of the quality management system by calibrating inspection tools, supporting audits, resolving quality issues, and assisting with documentation and training. This role works closely with production, quality, and leadership teams to ensure products meet internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable quality system expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Lead and support internal audits to verify compliance with established quality standards and procedures.
  • Serve as a key participant in customer and third-party audits by preparing documentation, answering questions, and demonstrating quality system effectiveness.
  • Process customer complaints and warranty claims by investigating issues, documenting findings, and coordinating appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist production teams in the disposition of non-conforming products, including evaluation, documentation, and recommended actions.
  • Support the Quality Manager in developing, updating, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare and assist production with PPAP documentation and submissions to meet customer requirements.
  • Schedule, organize, and prepare the required information for Management Review meetings, including quality performance data and improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor quality systems and maintain statistical programs to track performance, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Initiate corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methods to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in employee training and recurrent personnel qualifications related to quality processes and requirements.
  • Help resolve supplier quality issues by coordinating investigations, communicating requirements, and following up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in contract reviews to ensure quality requirements and expectations are clearly defined and achievable.
  • Assist in inspection activities and the release of customer orders, collaborating regularly with the Quality Manager.
  • Support the Quality Manager with additional quality-related duties as they arise.
  • Organize and control technical documentation, including blueprints, databases, and related quality records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of welding and allied processes is an asset.
  • Experience with welding inspection or weld quality is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience with FARO arm or similar measurement and inspection equipment.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience with quality assurance in a fabrication, welding, or industrial environment is an advantage.

Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid environment, splitting time between an office setting and a shop floor where appropriate personal protective equipment is required. You will be exposed to loud noises and active production areas while working closely with manufacturing teams. The standard work schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The primary work location is in Bettendorf, with some travel to the Orion facility as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
