Job Title: QC Inspector

Job Description

The QC Inspector performs detailed quality inspections on electronic components and circuit board assemblies, ensuring they meet all specifications, drawings, and quality standards. This role focuses on visual and final inspections, accurate measurements, and identification of defects in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of electronic components, surface-mount technology (SMT) assemblies, and circuit boards to verify overall quality and workmanship.
  • Measure components accurately using a meter and other inspection tools to confirm they meet specified requirements.
  • Identify reverse polarity, missing parts, misalignment, and solder defects on circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Review and interpret manufacturing process instructions (MPI), drawings, and blueprints to identify special notes and inspection criteria.
  • Read and verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure all required components are present and correctly assembled.
  • Conduct final quality control (Final QC) inspections on completed products prior to release.
  • Inspect SMT production output for quality issues and ensure compliance with SMT quality standards.
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately, and communicate any nonconformances to the appropriate team members.
  • Support component repair and rework activities by identifying defective components and areas requiring correction.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to maintain consistent quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection or a similar role in an electronics or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to measure components accurately using a meter and other basic inspection tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and circuit board assemblies.
  • Experience with surface-mount technology (SMT) inspection and SMT quality standards.
  • Proficiency in performing detailed visual inspections of electronic assemblies and circuit boards.
  • Ability to identify reverse polarity, missing parts, alignment issues, and solder defects.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing process instructions (MPI), drawings, and blueprints.
  • Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials (BOMs) for verification of components.
  • Experience with final inspection and final quality control processes in production.
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills for identifying defects and nonconformances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or similar production environment.
  • Experience in SMT production, component assembly, and component repair.
  • Familiarity with production workflows and quality standards for circuit board manufacturing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and repair teams.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for recording inspection results and issues.

Work Environment

The role is based in an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) facility that supports multiple customers and industries. The environment focuses on in-house board design, prototyping, New Product Introduction (NPI), and full production with rapid turnaround times of approximately five to ten days. Work is performed on the production floor around SMT lines, circuit board assemblies, and inspection stations, using meters and other inspection tools for visual and final quality checks

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
