Job Title: QA Coordinator
Job Description

The Temporary QA Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs at the plant. This position works closely with the Food Safety Coordinator and plant teams to ensure adherence to internal standards, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires hands-on engagement, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks based on food safety risk and production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily management of product holds, including tracking and documentation.
  • Manage disposition of restraints in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Provide QA coverage for restraint meetings and ensure follow-up actions.
  • Maintain clear communications with Operations and FSQ teams regarding product status.
  • Initiate and manage Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for quality and food safety issues.
  • Ensure issues are investigated to true root cause.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions to timely closure.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions through follow-up and data review.
  • Support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) and process deviation investigations.
  • Initiate and follow up on sCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests) as needed.
  • Support and participate in Monthly Internal Audits through observation, record review, and 'walk the process' assessments.
  • Maintain and update Corrective Action Registers (CAR) logs, including audit CARs.
  • Assist with HACCP documentation updates, including addendums as needed.
  • Support Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) activities, including sample coordination, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate Alchemy training assignments and track completion for QA personnel.
  • Monitor training compliance and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Track and report documentation or paperwork errors, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate QA and food safety records.
  • Assist in preparing reports for QA and Food Safety metrics.
  • Support Process Trial Run (PTR) activities, including data collection, documentation, and coordination during first production runs.
Essential Skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on action items.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Quality, Biology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, QA, or food safety is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, CAPA, and RCA methodologies preferred.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lawton, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
