Job Title: Systems Engineer IV
Job Description
This role focuses on developing and supporting test systems for a cutting-edge low Earth orbit satellite program. As a Systems Engineer IV, you design and implement software, scripting, and hardware solutions for subsystem validation and manufacturing test, working closely with cross-functional technical teams to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software and scripting-based test setups for validation of various satellite bus subsystems.
- Develop supporting hardware interfaces and test equipment required to execute subsystem validation and system-level tests.
- Create, update, and validate manufacturing test software used in prototype and production builds.
- Automate, deploy, and support manufacturing test infrastructure to ensure reliable, repeatable, and scalable test processes.
- Support and organize the release of software and hardware system documentation through formal gate reviews.
- Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot yield issues during prototype and production builds, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate daily with multiple technical teams, including optical and hardware teams, to resolve integration and test challenges.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test automation frameworks, tools, and processes to increase test coverage and efficiency.
- Work effectively in situations with a minor degree of ambiguity, proposing practical solutions to problems that may not have been solved before.
- Support the optical team with test automation, scripting, and software test activities related to optical and laser-based systems.
Essential Skills
- Experience programming with at least one modern programming language, with Python strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience in automating, deploying, and supporting manufacturing test infrastructure.
- Experience developing and maintaining software on Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Proficiency in scripting for test automation and hardware interaction.
- Familiarity with test equipment and hardware used in validation and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to investigate and troubleshoot yield and performance issues in prototype and production builds.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive issues to resolution quickly and effectively.
- Comfort working with a minor degree of ambiguity and tackling complex, first-of-a-kind problems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Python for test automation, data collection, and analysis.
- Background in hardware/software development for hardware test environments.
- Exposure to optical systems, lasers, and software testing for optical components.
- Experience working with or supporting cross-functional technical teams, such as optical, hardware, and systems engineering groups.
- Ability to create clear, well-structured technical documentation for software, hardware, and test procedures.
