The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: coordination of library services and/or teaching assigned classes, if assigned, under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.

Faculty may have an opportunity to teach College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment courses for partner
high schools and with support from Folsom Lake College staff to provide accessible, high-quality education to high school
students earning college credit.


Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per theLos Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8). Using an equity-minded lens in the development, assessment, continuous improvement, and delivery of library services and instruction, including, but not limited to:
  • Providing reference and information services to students and staff
  • Providing information literacy instruction to students in a variety of settings and formats
  • Using emerging technologies to enhance access to resources and to improve user experiences
  • Fulfilling committee service and collaborating with district librarians
  • Maintaining up-to-date instruction materials for print and on-line library resources
  • Selecting materials in subject areas for print, media, and digital collections
  • Marketing library services to students and staff
  • Student and staff outreach and relationship building
The Public Services Librarian may also be involved or take the lead in coordinating one or more of the following:
  • Circulation policy and procedures
  • Reference desk scheduling
  • Instructional programs and services
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching the following courses:
  • LIBR 318 Library Research and Information Literacy

  1. Master’s in library science, library and information science; ORthe equivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by August 20, 2026.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Degree titles must match the stated qualifications exactly (word-for-word).
  • If the degree title differs, or if it contains added, missing, or rearranged words, applicants mustsubmit a completed Equivalency Determination Request Form for the application to be considered. See the Equivalency Determination Process webpage for details.
    • Example: If amaster’s in Psychologyisrequiredbut your transcript lists Counseling Psychology, and that title is not listed in the Minimum Qualifications,anEquivalency Determination Request Formmust be submitted.

Transcript Requirements:

  • Transcripts must be from an accredited U.S. institution or approved foreign evaluation agency.
  • Foreign transcripts are notaccepted. For coursework and degrees completed outside the U.S., upload a foreign transcript evaluation.
  • Foreign transcript evaluations must be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation, Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency. See the Foreign Transcript Evaluation webpage for details.
  • If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g., a bachelor’s and a master’s), separate transcripts for each degree must be included.
  • Transcripts mustclearly identify the institution's name, degree title, major and/or certifications. Highlight or circle this information.
  • Transcripts must indicate whether each degree is completed (confer date) or in progress.
  • If the degree is in progress, the application must state the month and year the degree is expected to be attained.
  • Only official or unofficial transcripts are accepted to verify education. Graduate advising documents, grade reports, course listings, diplomas, and similar materials will not be accepted in place of transcripts.
  • Applicants are responsible for concealing any sensitive information from their transcripts, such as full birthdate, social, or other personal data, if preferred not to disclose.
