Who we’re looking for
Toyota’sVehicle Prototype Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Technician.
Primary responsibility of this role is to support the Prototype Body Welding process within R&D.
Reporting to the Weld and Paint Manager, the person in this role will support the Vehicle Prototype department's objective to support Toyota North America Product Development and Vehicle Evaluation.
What you’ll be doing
Prototype Body Weld. Ensure Prototype Vehicle Quality and Delivery will meet or exceed customer requirements.
Support equipment integration and installation (Tooling, Robots)
Initial responsibility will be centered around Prototype Production CV build Operation Plan for Welding and then rotation through all Welding stations (Under Body, Main Body, Laser Welding, etc.)
Weld process Quality Assurance.
Toyota Safety Management System participation.
Solve problems and create Kaizen to support Safety, Quality, Productivity KPIs.
Flexibility and commitment to above responsibilities will require up to 30% overtime at peak times.
Cyclical nature of Prototype Production will require broad flexibility of work assignment and willingness to support other functions outside of Welding.
Fabricate components and vehicle modification
CNC support
Take initiative to problem solve and Kaizen while working effectively with the entire R&D team.
This position is located in Saline, Michigan.
What you bring
Associate degree in Mechatronics-Robotics and Automated Systems or equivalent work experience as a technician in Body Weld (academic programs will be considered).
Experience in Weldment, JIG, or Fixture adjustment or have the formal education in Weldment, JIG or Fixture adjustments.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience using CAD software to manipulate vehicle data; such ss CATIA, NX/Unigraphics, Creo, SolidWorks, or other similar software.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in general sheet metal fabrication.
Commitment to the customer embracing flexibility of assignment and willingness to support in all functional roles.
Added bonus if you have
Experience using KPIs for goal setting and process management.
Quality Circle or other problem solving (TBP).
