Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Roanoke, VA

Reports to: Projects AVP

Position Summary: The Project Manager at Virginia Transformer, Roanoke plant, will oversee project execution from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in manufacturing, exceptional coordination and communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects. This role requires collaboration across multiple departments including engineering, production, quality, procurement, and logistics to ensure projects meet quality standards, timelines, and budget objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure on-time delivery of transformers and related components.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality assurance, logistics, and customer service.
  • Track project milestones, manage risks, identify issues early, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding project updates, addressing concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing processes, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor project costs and manage budgets effectively, providing accurate reporting and updates to leadership.
  • Facilitate regular project status meetings, clearly communicate deliverables, timelines, and objectives.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and project delivery.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, specifically within manufacturing environments, ideally related to transformers or heavy electrical equipment.
  • Proven experience coordinating teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and supply chain management.
  • Strong proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, ERP systems).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred but not required.


Working Conditions:

  • This role primarily operates in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Regular interaction with plant personnel, requiring adherence to safety protocols and PPE guidelines.
  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor or customer meetings.
