Job Title: Project Manager / Project Coordinator – Industrial Equipment

Job Description

This hands-on Project Manager / Project Coordinator role focuses on driving large, complex industrial equipment projects from engineering handoff through production and delivery. You will coordinate closely with engineering, production, supply chain, and vendors to keep projects on schedule, within scope, and aligned with technical and commercial requirements. The position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of physical equipment, fabrication, and manufacturing environments who enjoys bringing structure and clarity to a dynamic, build-to-order operation while working closely with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical and commercial project activities from engineering release through production and final delivery of industrial equipment systems.
  • Track and maintain project schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables using MS Project and standard project tracking tools.
  • Identify, monitor, and escalate risks related to cost, schedule, logistics, or resource constraints, and support the development of mitigation plans.
  • Prepare and distribute clear status reports, meeting notes, and action item follow-ups to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.
  • Support internal project reviews and facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineering, production, purchasing, accounting, and supply chain teams.
  • Serve as a coordination link between engineering, production, and business functions to ensure smooth project execution and issue resolution.
  • Manage and track engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, bills of materials (BOMs), reports, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, and close-out documentation.
  • Coordinate procurement activities such as obtaining vendor quotations, issuing purchase orders, tracking lead times, and organizing logistics and material handling.
  • Understand and account for physical project constraints, including foundations, cranes, material movement, equipment size, and facility limitations when planning and executing work.
  • Act as a communication liaison with customers and third-party service providers as appropriate, ensuring clear expectations and timely information flow.
  • Gradually support and expand customer-facing activities based on experience and comfort level, contributing to a professional and responsive customer experience.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and service providers to ensure scope alignment, technical compliance, and timely execution of their work.
  • Improve project visibility and accountability across teams by implementing structured tracking, reporting, and follow-up processes.
  • Bring structure and organization to project execution while adapting to a dynamic, build-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Take ownership of coordination tasks currently handled by senior leadership to free them for higher-level strategic responsibilities.
  • Apply practical knowledge of fabrication, welding, integration, testing, and production workflows to anticipate issues and keep projects moving forward.
  • Manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously, balancing priorities and maintaining composure under pressure.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience working within project management or project coordination, or as an engineer with significant project experience.
  • Experience working on physical, equipment-based projects in manufacturing, industrial, or assembly environments.
  • Previous experience coordinating or managing projects involving large equipment, skids, machinery, or process systems.
  • Practical understanding of fabrication, welding, integration, testing, and production workflows.
  • Experience working in heavy equipment or industrial equipment assembly environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Project for scheduling and tracking project activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams for communication, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present project status and requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure.
  • Comfort working in or around assembly shops, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of the operational impact of missed logistics, late materials, or poor coordination on cost, schedule, and execution.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering with exposure to project execution.
  • Experience transitioning from an engineering or operations role into project coordination or project management.
  • Familiarity with cranes, layout design, skids, machinery, welding, testing integration, turbines, cooling systems, and thermodynamics.
  • PMP certification is a plus but not required.
  • A proactive, practical, and solutions-oriented mindset, comfortable anticipating problems before they become costly.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers in a fast-paced, build-to-order environment.
  • Comfort taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion with minimal oversight.
