Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Finance Associate who can work to validate opportunities, price projects, and help us decide how and whether to move forward on deals. This person will own project-level financial modeling, underwrite solar and storage assets, support tax equity and debt processes, and bring financial discipline.
Job Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and iterate project and HoldCo-level financial models for solar and storage assets, including cash flow projections, return profiles, and sensitivity analyses across multi-project pipeline scenarios.
- Underwrite properties and offtake entities to assess default risk and validate project economics, including PPA rate assumptions, EPC costs, and site lease structures.
- Price projects across the development-to-COD lifecycle, incorporating construction capital, tax equity, debt, and revenue assumptions.
- Lead the preparation of investment summaries for internal approval for single- to portfolio-level project materials.
- Work directly with senior management to pressure-test assumptions and flag financial risks before deals move forward.
- Support tax equity and debt closings for solar and storage portfolios, coordinating due diligence and providing timely responses to lender and investor inquiries.
- Assist with corporate-level financial planning, including cash flow modeling, financing sources and uses, and near-term capital requirements.
- Track and analyze tax credit markets, including ITC transferability and fair market value appraisal processes.
- Evaluate incentive programs, policy environments, and revenue streams across target geographies.
- Coordinate with third-party partners, lenders, appraisers, and advisors across the financial workflow for each project and portfolio as needed.
- General support for ad hoc strategic and transactional initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; concentration in finance, economics, or accounting a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in project finance, commercial real estate finance, private equity, or investment banking with direct exposure to energy assets.
- Hands-on experience with solar and/or storage project finance; experience with tax equity structures and behind-the-meter projects a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated experience building and stress-testing multi-scenario financial models.
- Familiarity with construction capital structures and deliver-to-COD project economics.
- Strong analytical instincts: able to distinguish between a model that runs and a model that is right.
- Excellent communication skills; able to translate financial outputs into clear recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-directed, organized and high attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deals and deadlines in a lean team environment.
- Based in Los Angeles and able to work from our offices in Century City on a regular basis.
