Project Engineer

Extension is seeking a Project Engineer – Plastics for a Direct Hire opportunity with one of our clients located in Waukesha County, WI.

Key Objectives / Role Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams from quoting through production launch
• Review part and tooling designs to ensure manufacturability and quality
• Manage multiple projects, including timelines, budgets, and supplier coordination
• Support process development, including molding, automation, and secondary operations
• Drive quality planning efforts (APQP) including DOEs, capability studies, and cost optimization

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in plastic manufacturing or injection molding
• Strong understanding of:
• Tooling and mold design fundamentals
• Injection molding processes (thermoplastics, thermosets, or elastomers)
• Manufacturing processes and quality planning (APQP, DOEs, capability studies)
• Experience managing multiple projects, timelines, and suppliers
• Strong communication skills with ability to interface across teams
• Familiarity with ERP systems and standard business software (Excel, Word, MS Project preferred)

Salary Information

• $85,000 – $115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
