Who are we looking for?

 

We’re seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our Water team in Hyannis, Massachusetts, where you’ll play a key role in delivering impactful water, wastewater, utility, and infrastructure projects throughout the region. You’ll be an integral member of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, contributing to projects from early planning through detailed design and construction. In this role, you’ll support and prepare technical reports, design drawings, contract documents, cost estimates, and permitting packages, while also helping to shape project delivery strategies, job management plans, and quality assurance processes that keep work moving efficiently and on budget.

 

As a Project Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with CAD designers to develop high-quality design and construction documents, conduct field investigations and condition assessments to identify process needs and practical solutions, and contribute to environmental studies, specifications, and construction schedules. You’ll also support pricing, scoping, and marketing efforts for new and existing clients, helping position projects for success.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
  • Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.

 

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • EIT certification preferred

  • Experience supporting Water/ Wastewater traditional and/or alternative delivery projects, including the development of scope, schedule, and budget, and the subsequent monitoring of cost and schedule, a plus

  • Focus on client service; prior water and wastewater design experience with local municipalities a plus, especially wastewater collection system and pump station design

  • Devise approaches to problem resolution

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently

  • Willing and able to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed
