Project Engineer – Data Center Electrical Projects

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support electrical construction efforts on large‑scale data center projects throughout Wisconsin. This role is ideal for candidates with an interest in electrical contracting, mission‑critical facilities, and fast‑paced construction environments.

As a Project Engineer, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of complex electrical systems, working closely with field supervisors, project managers, vendors, and general contractors. You’ll play a hands‑on role in managing documentation, supporting procurement, coordinating BIM efforts, and ensuring electrical installations align with design documents, schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to high‑density power distribution, advanced electrical infrastructure, and large‑scale data center construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support electrical construction activities by managing drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Maintain organized logs and tracking for submittals, RFIs, materials, and project changes
  • Coordinate with vendors, engineers, general contractors, and field supervisors to ensure clear communication and timely issue resolution
  • Participate in BIM/VDC coordination, supporting model updates, clash resolution, and design changes typical in data center environments
  • Assist with electrical constructability reviews and ensure field installations align with engineered plans and specifications
  • Support cost tracking, budgeting, procurement, and quantity takeoffs for electrical scopes of work
  • Assist with job billing, estimating support, and change management for complex electrical systems
  • Help coordinate field activities to ensure schedule alignment, quality control, and safety compliance
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities as projects progress toward completion
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and technical drawings
  • Experience or interest in electrical contracting environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, or similar construction software is a plus
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with field teams, engineering staff, vendors, and general contractors
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data center, mission‑critical, industrial, or high‑tech projects
  • Exposure to high‑volume power distribution, backup power systems, or complex MEP coordination
  • Internship or prior experience with an electrical contractor

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
