Project Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Engineer with a strong pressure-vessel manufacturing background and project management experience to manage customer projects from technical quote through delivery. This role will act as the technical point of contact for customers, sales, engineering, and production—able to read and interpret drawings, apply relevant codes, and ensure quality and compliance. The role focuses on coordinating technical requirements and schedules rather than producing engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Customer Liaison: Serve as the primary technical contact for customers; translate customer requirements, clarify specifications, and explain product features and limitations.
• Project Management: Plan and manage project schedules, milestones, risk mitigation, resource coordination, and on‑time delivery for multiple concurrent projects.
• Drawing & Specification Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials produced by the engineering team; ensure requirements are clearly communicated to production.
• Code & Quality Compliance: Apply ASME Section VIII and other relevant pressure vessel codes and standards; coordinate QA/QC, NDT, pressure testing, and certification activities to ensure compliance.
• Quoting & Change Management Support: Provide technical input for quotes and proposals; evaluate and implement change orders assessing technical, cost, and schedule impacts.
• Production Support: Work closely with fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly teams to resolve technical issues, verify fit-up/tolerances, and expedite problem resolution.
• Cross-functional Coordination: Communicate technical status and constraints to sales, engineering, plant operations, logistics, and leadership; lead project review meetings.
• Project Status Reporting: Maintain and report project status, progress, and schedule updates to stakeholders (project-level reporting only; not sales performance reporting).
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, quality, and manufacturability; lead or support small improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical diploma with relevant experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in pressure vessels, storage tanks, or heavy fabrication manufacturing with direct exposure to production, QA, or project coordination.
• Practical knowledge of ASME Section VIII (or equivalent), pressure testing, welding processes, and common NDT methods.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications; familiarity with BOMs and material callouts.
• Proven project management skills: scheduling, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication. PMP/CAPM a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office and ERP systems (D365 preferred); familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Asana) as a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present technical information to customers and internal teams.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Prior experience in LPG/propane or other regulated pressure vessel markets.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methods, or ISO management systems.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
