Job Title: Project EngineerJob DescriptionThis Project Engineer role supports a team of Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers on a large, complex semiconductor project, with a primary focus on the electrical scope of work at a major on-site facility in Boise, ID. The position centers on coordinating design changes, tracking project progress and costs, and maintaining critical project documentation to ensure successful execution of electrical construction activities in a high-tech environment.
Responsibilities
- Track construction contract design changes and updates to ensure all stakeholders work from the most current information.
- Monitor overall project construction progress and maintain accurate job cost tracking to support budget and schedule control.
- Coordinate design changes within the construction team to maintain alignment between field operations and design intent.
- Assist with the preparation of change orders and maintain a detailed project change order log.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the project schedule, collaborating with project leadership to keep activities on track.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of submittal logs and RFI logs to support timely project communication and approvals.
- Prepare project submittals and submit clear, well-written Requests for Information (RFIs) to the client.
- Apply extensive document control practices to organize, update, and manage project documentation and records.
- Read, interpret, and analyze construction schedules to support planning, sequencing, and coordination of work.
- Support job cost tracking efforts by collecting, reviewing, and updating cost-related data and reports.
- Communicate effectively with project team members, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve issues and keep work progressing.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing project needs and contributing wherever needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate excellent human relations skills in all internal and external interactions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the successful delivery of the project.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a Project Engineer position.
- 2+ years of Project Engineer experience on semiconductor or data center projects.
- Experience supporting data center and/or semiconductor construction projects.
- Electrical construction experience, ideally with an electrical subcontractor.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction schedules.
- Extensive document controls experience, including managing drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools).
- Working knowledge of job cost tracking and related project financial controls.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite in a construction project environment.
- Experience with medium- to high-voltage electrical construction concepts.
- Background in construction management and/or electrical engineering within a project setting.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam for reviewing and marking up drawings and documents.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with strong collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic project environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions and contribute proactively to project needs.
- Excellent human relations skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Leadership experience in a field construction environment.
- Estimator or Project Supervisor experience, especially on electrical or high-tech projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Combination of relevant field experience and formal education in construction or engineering.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access as a plus for managing project data and reporting.
- Experience in semiconductor or data center environments, including understanding of their unique technical and scheduling demands.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in tracking documents, schedules, and costs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a project team and support project managers and assistant project managers.
Work EnvironmentThis is an on-site position based at a large semiconductor project in Boise, ID, with a typical Monday through Friday schedule of approximately 40 hours per week. The role operates in a dynamic construction environment where you will regularly interact with field teams, project managers, and client representatives. You will use tools such as Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and other construction management and document control systems to perform your work. The position is salaried and may include a phone or phone allowance. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
