Position SummaryThe Capital Projects Team is seeking a highly motivated Project Coordinator / Associate Project Engineer to support ongoing capital, R&M, and low-CAPEX initiatives across Client facilities. This role is designed to fill existing capability gaps in procurement support, schedule development, and small-project execution. A successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Project Manager and Project Engineer to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with HESS requirements. With proven performance, this position offers a clear development path into a full Project Engineer (PE) role.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Commercial Support (Primary Focus)- Prepare and enter purchase order (PO) requisitions with accuracy and adherence to company processes.- Coordinate with vendors, supply chain, and internal stakeholders to gather required specifications and documentation.- Perform detailed reviews of vendor bids, estimates, and quotes to ensure completeness, commercial accuracy, and technical alignment.- Support bid-tab creation and assist in vendor selection recommendations.Project Planning & Controls- Assist in the development of project schedules, milestones, and execution plans for capital and maintenance projects.- Maintain schedule updates, progress tracking, and reporting.- Help ensure projects remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned with approved budgets.Project Execution Support- Take ownership of small-scale R&M or low-CAPEX projects under PM oversight.- Assist in field coordination, contractor management, and material tracking as needed.- Support creation of project documentation including scopes of work, change requests, risk assessments, and closeout packages.HESS Compliance- Maintain strong knowledge of and adherence to HESS procedures.- Participate in safety briefings, audits, and site walkdowns when onsite.- Ensure all contractor and vendor activities follow company safety policies and regulatory guidelines.QualificationsRequired- Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.- Strong attention to detail with ability to analyze technical and commercial information.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with scheduling tools.- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.- Ability to visit project sites and work safely in industrial environments.Preferred- Experience in procurement, project coordination, or early-career project engineering.- Familiarity with industrial or manufacturing environments.- Previous exposure to HESS programs or field operations.- Interest in pursuing a future Project Engineer role.Growth & Development PathThis role is intentionally structured as a developmental position. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance, initiative, and technical growth can transition into a Project Engineer role over time.
