Job Title: Project Scheduler / Project Controls Specialist
Job Description

The Project Scheduler / Project Controls Specialist will develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules for complex technical projects, including additive manufacturing and post‑processing machines, using Microsoft Project. This role revises forecasts, evaluates schedule impacts, identifies risks, and clearly communicates project status and key risk areas to stakeholders. The position offers the opportunity to support advanced manufacturing and technical programs tied to national defense while influencing schedule performance, cost control, and overall project execution in a high‑visibility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage multiple complex project schedules in Microsoft Project for technical projects, including additive manufacturing and post‑processing machines.
  • Revise schedule forecasts regularly and assess the impact of changes on project timelines, cost, and performance.
  • Identify schedule and cost risks proactively, propose mitigation strategies, and communicate risk areas clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, quality leads, and inventory teams to develop project cost estimates and manage actual project costs.
  • Track overall project and machine status, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of schedule, cost, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and deliver clear written and verbal status updates suitable for leadership‑level reporting, including schedule progress, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Support workflow management by maintaining project processes, procedures, and required documentation.
  • Manage and organize project documentation, including facilities management forms, visitor request forms, and other required records.
  • Coordinate and support multiple concurrent activities, adapting to shifting priorities and short turnaround times while maintaining structure and process rigor.
  • Operate effectively in a regulated, security‑conscious environment, following established controls, documentation standards, and project governance.
  • Participate in regular schedule reviews, forecasting sessions, and risk discussions with cross‑functional teams to keep projects on track.
Essential Skills
  • Advanced experience creating, maintaining, and managing multiple complex project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Experience managing cost, schedule, and performance across multiple technical projects.
  • Strong risk identification, mitigation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including project managers, engineers, quality leads, and inventory personnel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong critical‑thinking abilities and analytical mindset to evaluate schedule and cost impacts.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for leadership‑level status reporting.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a regulated, security‑conscious environment.
  • Comfort managing structure, documentation, and process rigor.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Project or program management experience in a technical or operations environment.
  • Experience managing projects in an additive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs or facilities.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent activities with shifting priorities and short turnaround times.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across technical and non‑technical teams.
Work Environment

This role operates in a highly collaborative technical environment that supports complex projects and specialized manufacturing equipment. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, quality leads, inventory teams, and leadership on schedule‑driven initiatives that require frequent updates, forecasting adjustments, and risk reviews. The work is hands‑on and fast‑paced, with exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and high‑visibility programs tied to national defense. The environment is regulated and security‑conscious, emphasizing structure, documentation, and process rigor while encouraging close cross‑functional collaboration.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.29 - $62.50/hr.
