Utah Community Action in Salt Lake City, UT, is hiring a full-time Program Specialist to supervise and coach our Head Start teachers.

This position offers a competitive wage of $32.03 per hour and benefits, including:

Position Summary

The Program Specialist ensures the program complies with all laws and regulations. They supervise and support teachers, clearly communicate expectations, and guide their professional growth with training and resources. They help teachers use the Creative Curriculum and the TSG Online Assessment System and review classroom data to improve child outcomes. The Specialist conducts Family Reviews, collaborates with all departments to deliver quality services, and visits classrooms to assess health, safety, and compliance. They identify needed classroom materials and share these needs with the Program Coordinator. They also help staff set goals, provide supportive supervision, and respect each family's culture and language. Finally, they stay up to date in the field by participating in professional development.


Required Education, Experience, Licenses

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Studies, or in a related field with an emphasis in Early Childhood essential topics.
  • 2-year supervisory experience.
  • Driver's license
  • Must complete and maintain Infant Toddler and Preschool CLASS certification (within first 3 months of employment).

Preferred Education and Experience, Licenses

  • Previous Head Start experience
  • Infant/Toddler and Preschool CLASS certification.
  • Bilingual in languages spoken by families served by UCA.
