General Summary:

Under the direction of and reports to the Sr. Program Manager. Program Management Engineer is a development role leading into a Program Manager. Key development activities and accountability will be outlined specifically. Functions of the Program Management Engineer and Program Manager are to participate and lead the Planning for Product Realization process once a product is identified as high potential or released to MTI by our customer. This position manages the internal and external Product Launch activities affecting all new and transferred customer products, as well as engineering changes. To achieve flawless launches, this position will facilitate and lead Manufacturing Feasibility Reviews, technical reviews, APQP meetings, launch planning meetings, Supplier launch reviews and Team Feasibility Reviews, both internally and externally. As part of these meetings, there will be a review of all quality requirements, engineering specifications and product requirements. The Program Management Engineer will be responsible for creating and monitoring data input for all “Master Product Launch information” in the appropriate document retention system. The Program Management Engineer will provide liaison duties between MTI customers, MTI Manufacturing plants, Corporate and Suppliers to assure that the manufacture or purchase of products meet all requirements at or better than quoted/PPAP lead-times.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Alignment

  • Define program objectives and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Communicate financial benefits and budget of the programs.
  • Develop timelines program execution.
  • Identify and manage interdependencies between projects.

Program Oversight and Governance

  • Establish program governance structures and processes.
  • Monitor and drive progress across new, plant transfers, and engineering change projects to ensure they stay on track.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards. AIAG Core Tools, and IATF-16949 / ISO-9001 procedures.
  • Facilitate APQP meetings, Manufacturing Feasibility Reviews, Team Feasibility Reviews, PPAP/product launch timing, and post launch reviews with customers, MTI facilities.
  • Coordinate the implementation of customer specifics including purchase orders, prints, specifications, quality requirements, product requirements, commercial items, customer portals, shipping requirements, packaging and label requirements, EDI setup, and tooling invoicing authorization.

Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Provide regular updates to executives and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and resolve conflicts.

Resource Management

  • Allocate resources across projects efficiently.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure optimal use of resources and budget.
  • Identify and address resource gaps or constraints.

Risk and Issue Management

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and manage issues that arise during program execution.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical problems.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Overall accountability for on time and seamless launches.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and QMS dashboards.
  • Prepare and present status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
  • Conduct post-program evaluations and lessons learned.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Exceptional written, verbal and computer skills (including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Strong understanding of automotive industry’s quality requirements including IATF-16949 and ISO-9001, PPAP, and AIAG Core Tools.
  • Ability to travel to OEM’s and MTI facilities coordinating technical reviews, status updates, direction and priorities to ensure seamless launches.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge in the following areas: project management, program management, and commercial terms.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of employees, customers, and suppliers.

Working Conditions

  • The Program Management Engineer will reside primarily in the office, however, will be in the plant and traveling to customers and suppliers to drive successful product launches. Must be able to adhere to the conditions of the plant.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in Business or Engineering or extensive industry experience
  • Minimum three years of experience in a manufacturing environment, sales, engineering, or quality with Tier 1 or 2 automotive parts supplier.
  • Training in IATF-16949 / ISO-9001, AIAG Core Tools and project management is preferred.
  • Experience in foundry, machining, or metals industries preferred.
