Program Intern Venice Arts is pleased to announce an internship opportunity, the Program Intern position. Venice Arts is a non-profit organization w hose m ission is to ignite, expand and transform the lives of Los Angeles’ low -incom e youth through photography and film education, and to use participatory storytelling practices to am plify the voices of underrepresented com m unities. W e do this by building creative equity for low -incom e youth through m edia arts education, advanced studies, college success, and creative career pathw ay program s. Description The Program Intern w ill provide support w ork for Venice Arts’ M edia Arts Education & M entoring Program (“M AE”) from June-D ecem ber. Starting in June the Program Intern w ill w ork approxim ately 15-20 hours a w eek. O nce com pleting requisite training the intern’s prim ary responsibility during this tim e w ill be to w ork alongside the Adm inistrative + D evelopm ent Associate to ensure our facilities, equipm ent, and files are ready for the start of sum m er cam p. D uring the Summer Media Arts Camp, July 6 - 31, the Program Intern w ill w ork 35 hours a w eek, M onday through Friday, 8:30am -3pm , supporting w orkshops and ensuring students and their fam ilies feel w elcom e. The intern’s prim ary responsibility is to oversee the student m orning check-in process and help supervise the students w ho hold over from m orning to afternoon w orkshops, leading enrichm ent activities during the break, and generally m onitoring students during this transitional hour. Additionally, the intern w ill serve as a classroom aid preparing w orkshop m aterials, and assisting w ith general adm inistrative tasks. D uring the m onth of August , the Program Intern w ill w ork 15-20 hours per w eek. D uring this period the Intern w ill assist w ith the transition from sum m er cam p to the academ ic year helping to archive students w ork, file student records, reset com puters and other general organizational tasks. If tim e allow s, they w ill also support the w ork of the O utreach + O pportunities Coordinator. This includes attending outreach events and school presentations, and supporting the planning of fall events including College D ay. D uring the Academ ic Year (September-December), the Program Intern w ill w ork 15-20 hours per w eek, including Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-6:30pm and Saturdays 9am -4:30pm . Any additional hours w ill be determ ined based on the intern’s availability and organization needs. The intern’s prim ary responsibilities w ill be to oversee the student check in/out process and serve as a classroom aid as needed and support w ith outreach tasks. O n Saturdays the intern w ill be given the opportunity to (1) serve in the classroom as a teaching assistant to get a m ore in-depth experience w ith classroom m anagem ent and teaching practices or (2) to assist w ith preparations for upcom ing public events such as College D ay and Com m unity D ay and/or (3) support w ith D evelopm ent and Com m unications efforts such as: providing support for our annual large fundraising event, and m arketing and com m unications needs. The selection of these options w ill be m ade after the Sum m er Cam p and w ill be based upon the intern’s professional developm ent goals. A summary list of the tasks described above includes: ● Running student check-in during M edia Arts Sum m er Cam p ● O verseeing the student lunch break and activities from 12-1pm during Cam p ● Serving as general workshop support, specifically: ● Assisting w ith class setup/breakdow n ● Providing m entoring support and assisting students w ith projects ● M aintaining digital class files on individual devices and Google D rive ● Supporting with general public programming including: ● D rafting floor plans and researching aligned resources and partners ● D esigning and printing collateral and drafting social m edia content ● Staging and clearing program m ing space including m oving furniture up to 25lbs ● Assisting w ith the run of the show including (re)stocking refreshm ents, staffing inform ation and w orkshop tables ● Supporting the Development and Communications team: ● Researching and assisting w ith the subm ission of form al requests for in-kind donations from businesses, com panies and corporations. ● Supporting general administrative needs: ● Assisting w ith softw are updates ● Answ ering phone calls , filing, printing, and copying ● O pening and closing the gate for visitors and deliveries Qualifications The Program Intern candidate m ust have the follow ing qualifications: ● Is currently enrolled as an undergraduate college student. (This can include students enrolled in associate degree (com m unity college) program s.) ● Is a resident of Los Angeles County attending college outside of the region or currently attending college in Los Angeles County. ● Is able to legally w ork w ithin the United States. Students w ho are on track to com plete their undergraduate degree, or transfer from a com m unity college to a four-year institution betw een M ay 1 - D ecem ber 1, 2025, are eligible. You w ould not be eligible to participate if: ● You have already earned a Bachelor of the Arts, Bachelor of Science, or a higher degree. (Prospective graduates w ho w ill com plete their undergraduate degree betw een M ay 1, 2025, and D ecem ber 1, 2025, need not be currently enrolled at the tim e of the internship.) ● You have previously participated in Los Angeles County’s Arts Internship Program . ● You are a current or form er staff m em ber of Venice Arts. ● You are a relative of a current em ployee, board m em ber, trustee, officer, and/or director of Venice Arts. Hours/Schedule The Program Intern w ill be on-boarded and begin training on June 22nd. The Program Intern m ust be available for a m inim um of 15 hours a w eek for the entire internship. Specifically, the Program Intern m ust be available during these tim es: ● M onday-Friday, 8:30am -3pm during our M edia Arts Sum m er Cam p, July 6 - 31; and ● Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-6:30pm and Saturdays 9am -4:30pm during our Academ ic Year, Septem ber 5-D ecem ber 12.
