The Department of Budget and Fiscal Services (BFS)is hiring for one (1) entry-level Professional Trainee I position, offering a comprehensive training program to launch your career in the Real Property Assessment Division. As a Professional Trainee I, you'll have the opportunity to learn about real property assessment, gaining hands-on experience as well as valuable skills for your future career.


Property Valuation Analyst:
Starting as a Professional Trainee I in this role, you'll have the opportunity to grow and advance within the Property Valuation Analyst series (Professional Trainee I and II, followed by Property Valuation Analyst I, II, and III). As part of Honolulu’s real property assessment program, you’ll gain valuable experience in learning valuation models, understanding applicable rules, regulations, and procedures, and working with key reference materials. You'll also be involved in researching and preparing reports and presentations, drafting legislation, supporting employee training and development, creating tax relief forms, managing procurement processes, assisting with annual projects, conducting studies, and contributing to the quality assessments program.


Currently, there is one (1) full-time, temporary (limited-term) position available, with the possibility of extension and the potential to become permanent upon successful completion of the training program.

Special Working Conditions: Work schedule is from 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., with varying days off depending on work needs. May also be required to work overtime, weekends, nights and holidays based on operational needs.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.

Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
For example:1. Four (4) years of professional work experience, in any occupation, may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.2. Four (4) years of general work experience (does not need to be professional level experience) in the real property field may be substituted for a general bachelor's degree.
The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United States.In order to receive credit for the education, proper documentation, e.g., a foreign credential evaluation (FCE), must be provided.
