About Us
Millinocket Fabrication & Machine, LLC is a precision custom fabrication and machining shop with deep roots in industrial manufacturing. We are currently in our 120 year. From our 40,000 sq. ft. facility in the heart of Maine, we handle complex work weighing up to 30 tons: stainless steel fabrications, ASME pressure vessels, hydro & energy components, and more. We are committed to delivering quality work, on time and on budget….every day.
This is a shop-based role with minimal to no travel or field work. You’ll be home every night
MFM is experiencing significant growth, and we are looking for a Shop Supervisor who is ready to grow with us.
The Opportunity
As Shop Supervisor, you will own the day-to-day coordination of our fabrication production teams. You will ensure our production teams hit schedule, quality standards are upheld, resources are deployed efficiently, and every person on your team has what they need to do their best work.
This is a hands-on, floor-present leadership role, not a desk job. You will be expected to lead from the floor, keep work moving, and ensure quality is maintained at every stage.
What You Will Do
• Drive daily and weekly output against the production plan; ensure production meets schedule attainment and revenue targets.
• Maintain accurate WIP and raw material inventory on the floor.
• Ensure all direct labor employees comply with time clock procedures (clock-in / clock-out) on every order.
• Organize workflow, assign tasks, and make real-time corrections to keep production on track.
• Apply structured problem-solving methods to continuously improve quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Cross-train personnel across departments; keep training records current in the HR system.
• Enforce safety and housekeeping standards; ensure all team members meet company safety and quality requirements.
• Evaluate team members, identify development opportunities, coach and mentor for skill growth.
• Prepare and distribute production status reports; participate in cross-functional reviews.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues; escalate as needed.
• Promote company and department communications to your team effectively and on time.
What You Bring — Required
• Associate degree or equivalent; 7+ years in a production/manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years in supervisory or progressive leadership roles.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude; knowledge of fabrication equipment, tooling, and processes.
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and/or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and communicate specifications clearly to production personnel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Leadership development certifications.
• Forklift operator or material handling equipment license.
Work Environment
This is a floor-based role in our Millinocket, Maine facility. You will be present in an active manufacturing environment with moving equipment, machinery, and periodic noise. Safety gear is required in production areas. Minimal travel, if any.
Why Join MFM?
• Be part of a growing company with expanding work in high-demand industrial sectors.
• Work alongside a skilled, tight-knit team with decades of manufacturing expertise.
• Competitive compensation for the right candidate.
• A chance to make a real impact, your decisions directly shape what ships out the door.
