Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Description

The Production Supervisor oversees and develops a team of production workers and machine operators in the manufacturing of composite pipes and fittings. This role ensures products are produced safely, efficiently, and in line with quality standards and client specifications. The supervisor manages daily production activities, supports staffing and scheduling, contributes to hiring and performance management, and maintains a strong safety culture while remaining willing to work hands-on when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of approximately 25–30 production workers and machine operators to complete all activities on time and according to required standards.
  • Ensure all production areas manufacture planned quantities according to the production schedule to meet demand.
  • Monitor production stations and associated machinery to ensure safe, efficient operations and promptly report any issues or abnormalities.
  • Identify required maintenance and monitor preventive maintenance activities to maintain machine availability and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and track the use of raw materials according to specifications to avoid production variations and waste.
  • Oversee the production process to ensure finished products consistently meet quality standards and client specifications.
  • Report production issues, problems, mistakes, or non-conformities to the Production Manager and support corrective actions.
  • Coordinate production schedules with the Production Manager and planning personnel to optimize production efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Ensure operators run machinery within prescribed parameters to maximize output, maintain quality, and minimize rework.
  • Coordinate with production planning and scheduling to ensure actual materials used and hours worked are accurately entered into the ERP system so actual costs are properly measured.
  • Train employees on production processes, procedures, and safety practices to build capability and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct or contribute to annual performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback to staff using established performance management tools.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping records for assigned employees.
  • Work hands-on on the production floor when needed to support operations, troubleshoot issues, and model best practices.
  • Promote and enforce a high level of safety practices for the shift, ensuring adherence to all safety guidelines and standards.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of production supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience supervising a team of 15 or more employees.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly direct, coach, and train employees.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work hands-on in a production setting when needed.
  • Ability to manage and align production schedules with staffing and resources.
  • Experience with production supervision, including monitoring output, quality, and safety.
  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate with planning and scheduling to manage materials, labor hours, and ERP data entry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in composite manufacturing, such as fiberglass, epoxy resin, carbon fiber, or similar materials.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, including 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exposure to or training in Six Sigma practices.
  • Experience with training and development of production staff.
  • Exposure in composite manufacturing processes and materials handling.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools and methods to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Work Environment

The role is based in an open-air shop environment where production equipment and composite manufacturing processes are in regular use. The standard schedule is a first-shift assignment from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Saturdays scheduled as needed based on production demands. The position involves frequent presence on the production floor, working around machinery, raw materials, and finished composite products, and requires comfort in a hands-on, industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
