Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Description

The main function of a Production Supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers. This role involves overseeing a team of around 18-20 members, including UAW employees and two team leaders, and managing 21 individual die cast machines.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems.
  • Analyze production quality control and maintenance to detect production problems.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff and resolve personal grievances.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
  • Conduct safety talks with the team and manage pass on meetings.
  • Check Kronus to monitor attendance and manage daily lineup of tasks.
  • Make decisions and solve issues related to quality control.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control techniques.
  • Familiarity with machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Competence in design techniques and tools involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in production supervision.
  • Experience in leadership development within the manufacturing industry, specifically in die casting.
  • Automotive and union experience is a bonus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Technical is advantageous.

Work Environment

The role is onsite and requires 12-hour workdays on a 2-week alternating schedule. Employees will work two days on, then have two days off, followed by three days on, then three days off. Weekend work is required, including Saturdays and Sundays. Employees must arrive 30 minutes before their shift starts for meeting hand-offs. Shift times are as follows: 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (arrival at 6:30 AM), 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, and 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM. The work location is in Bedford, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
