Position Summary

This is a full-time, on-site Production Engineer role located in Fort Worth, TX. The Production Engineer will be responsible for maximizing production performance, managing field operations, and executing well interventions. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity, address technical challenges, and develop efficient production strategies.


The description of the position includes but is not limited to the following:


Job Duties

  • Monitor daily production performance, including oil, gas, and water volumes, and identify downtime or underperformance
  • Analyze well behavior and trends to diagnose issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Work closely with field personnel to address operational issues and restore production quickly
  • Optimize base production across the portfolio through continuous surveillance and adjustment
  • Design and execute workover and recompletion programs, including candidate selection and economic justification
  • Diagnose well failures (mechanical, reservoir, or operational) and develop remediation plans
  • Track performance of workovers and apply learnings to improve future results
  • Design, implement, and optimize artificial lift systems, including rod pump, ESP, and gas lift
  • Monitor lift performance by optimizing efficiency and reducing downtime
  • Manage chemical treating programs and conduct regular performance evaluation
  • Coordinate with field personnel and travel to field locations as needed
  • Provide hands-on technical support for day-to-day operations and troubleshooting
  • Support early production and flowback activities
  • Act as primary liaison with third-party drilling and completions providers to ensure alignment with production objectives
  • Review and provide input on well plans and completions designs to support long-term production performance (e.g., artificial lift readiness, stage design considerations, flowback strategy)
  • Monitor drilling and completions progress at a high level, ensuring operations stay aligned with AFE, timeline, and company expectations
  • Support flowback and early production, ensuring a smooth transition from completions to steady-state production
  • Capture and apply lessons learned from drilling and completions to improve future well performance and intervention strategies
  • Analyze production and operating data using ComboCurve, Excel, and other tools
  • Develop production forecasts, type curves, and economic evaluations in coordination with reservoir engineering
  • Prepare weekly and monthly production and operations reports for management
  • Track and analyze LOE and identify cost drivers and savings opportunities
  • Prepare AFEs for workovers, recompletions, and production-related capital projects
  • Track actual costs against AFE and LOE budgets; identify and address variances
  • Support development of annual operating budgets in coordination with accounting and management
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure service quality, cost control, and operational efficiency
  • Review and approve field invoices in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with Texas and New Mexico regulatory entities and support regulatory filings


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or related)
  • 10+ years of production/operations engineering experience in upstream oil and gas
  • Ability to travel frequently to the Permian Basin area
  • Strong experience with workovers, recompletions, artificial lift, and well optimization
  • Working knowledge of completions and drilling sufficient to coordinate with third-party providers
  • Experience managing LOE, AFEs, and operational budgets
  • Experience in Permian Basin operations
  • Proficiency in ComboCurve, Excel, and production analysis tools
  • Strong field orientation and ability to troubleshoot real-time operational issues
