Product Development & Sourcing Manager – Electrical

Our Client · New York, NY (Hybrid)

About the Job

Our client's goal is to make owning a beautiful designer home simple and affordable for their customers. While other top homebuilders are maintaining the status quo, in this changing market, they are focusing their energy on the single thing they can do best: being a customer-centric homebuilder. This focus allows them to separate from the competition, redefine their industry, and grow their market share.

To support this company-wide transformation, our client has spent five years creating and implementing their own Supply Chain to introduce new ways of sourcing products and to develop high quality and innovative products for their homes. They are looking for an experienced, passionate professional who can help guide them forward as they prepare to take their organization – and their impact – to the next level.

This role is responsible for identifying and developing supplier relationships, managing cost structures, ensuring product quality, and optimizing the supply chain for electrical-related categories. This role requires collaboration with engineering and design teams to translate consumer insights into functional and market-ready products that meet quality, cost, and schedule targets. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the electrical industry, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record in strategic sourcing or procurement.

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for electrical materials and products, including but not limited to conduit, wiring, panels, lighting, switches, and control systems.
  • Lead new product development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Translate the design team's insights into detailed product concepts and design specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturers to ensure design intent, manufacturability, and production efficiency.

  • Coordinate with sourcing and supply chain partners to select materials and manage vendor relationships.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor products to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Track and directly report project status updates to the Sr. Product Development Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or hands-on maker skills and engineering fundamentals in the electrical field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in product development, with specific experience in electrical materials or systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical products, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience working within a new product introduction (NPI) process.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, 3D CAD, and other relevant software.
  • Strong problem-solving and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
