Our Opportunity:

At Chewy, we’re on a mission to be the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents and partners everywhere. We are seeking a Product Development (PD) Manager to lead the end-to-end development of high-quality products within our Hardgoods portfolio. This role is critical in translating consumer needs and market insights into commercially successful products.

As a PD Manager, you will operate with a high degree of ownership, leading category initiatives and influencing product features and benefits, cost, and quality.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead end-to-end product development across multiple product categories, from concept through commercialization meeting Chewy’s quality and profitability standards.

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.

  • Collaborate with Category and Brand Managers, Design, Sourcing, QA, and other stakeholders to develop 3 year and annual product roadmaps.

  • Assist in sending out market research and obtaining customer feedback on initial concepts.

  • Manage healthy relationships with vendor partners, ensuring Chewy is a retailer of choice.

  • Review and analyze samples and provide constructive feedback to vendors.

  • Ensure on-time delivery of key milestones across multiple workstreams, including sample management.

  • Review & complete full item setup in PLM.

  • Manage packaging reviews: product descriptions, UPCs, and content to maintain consistency and quality.

  • Maintain product information, content attribution, spec sheets, and other data in PLM system.

  • Own the tracking of PDPs pre-launch including status of image assets, descriptions, copy, size charts, submission of product attributes, and follow up with internal teams to ensure all pages are launch-ready.

  • Organizing, tagging, labeling, and shipping samples for PR, photography, and video purposes.

  • Proactively gather product information from vendors to prepare for marketing kick-offs.

  • Assess customer reviews to ensure product integrity and identify areas for potential improvements.

  • Oversee product pages (PDPs), consumer insights, surveys, and provide feedback on improvement areas.

  • Monitor recently launched products, identifying PDP enhancement opportunities, and addressing customer reviews promptly.

  • Run ad hoc reports. (Must be proficient in excel. Knowledge of running SQL is a plus)

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in consumer product development, sourcing our quality

  • Deep understanding of the end to end product development lifecycle

  • Ability to create product briefs aligned to assortment strategies

  • Skillful at Identifying product tradeoffs and partnering with vendors to meet customer needs and financial goals

  • Creative, innovative, critical thinker

  • Executes time sensitive tasks with precision and urgency.

  • Impeccable organization and attention to detail

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills

  • Proficiency in Excel (vlookups/pivots), knowledge of SQL, PLM is a plus.

  • Initiative and drive for process improvement

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and project management abilities

  • Availability for night work due to global support, less than 10%

  • On-site presence in south Florida office

  • Travel expectation 10%
