The Procurement Manger will lead a team of Commodity Leaders to procure over $90 Million of annual operations procured Hard and Soft Craft Construction services; develop strategic strategies aligned with AdvanSix Values and Value Creation roadmap; while preserving an optimal enterprise supplier risk outlook.


Responsibilities:


Category Management:

The Individual will be accountable for leading the team in mitigating supply risk, maximizing financial improvement and driving innovation of the supply base. They will direct and lead the team to:

  • Develops short and long-term category specific strategies that are aligned with AdvanSix goals for reducing costs and meeting financial expectation, while managing vendor relationships. Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across the organizations where applicable, by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories; consults with Sr. Management, and other subject matter experts to develop alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts; and
  • Interact with stakeholders to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships for extracting the greatest value in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, risk management, sustainability, and innovation. Manage the ongoing performance of our suppliers including objective setting and supplier evaluations where warranted; and
  • Actively seeks ways to streamline business processes; researches and provides information on industry category trends and best practices. Provide procurement input to maximize procurement leverage, optimize project design and minimize project durations and cost.


Procurement Execution

For funded Capital and Plant activities, the individual will assign appropriate team members as points of contact for certain Capital and Plant Turnaround projects. They will direct and lead the team to ensure it:

  • Executes category sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFI’s and RFP’s, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; develops selection criteria and drives the selection and approval process of suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management. Develop negotiation strategies, gain alignment from stakeholders, lead cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams, and implementing appropriate supplier risk analysis; and
  • Conduct on-site pre-proposal meetings at the facilities to ensure plant requirements (both technical and commercial) are met; and
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, progressive pay schedules, delivery milestones; and
  • Write contracts and Purchase Order’s within delegation of authority; and
  • Resolve or facilitate the resolution of supplier issues with invoicing, qualifications and back-charges and claims.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree; and
  • 8+ years of indirect plant/ capital procurement sourcing or 10+ capital project management experience & increasing responsibility in the industrial plant field (Chemical, Refining); and
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports both co-located and at other locations

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Executive Management, Operations Management, external contacts such as high-level positions within supplier organizations, and with all levels within the AdvanSix organization including requisitioners
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (especially Powerpoint & Excel)
  • Technical proficiency with appropriate procurement systems and analytic tools (SAP and Business Warehouse), and e-procurement systems (Scan-Market or Ariba)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or post graduate degree
  • Certified Purchasing Manager endorsement
  • Advanced negotiation training and routine application of the skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification


The base salary range for this role is $130,700 to $196,100
