SUMMARY OF DUTIES:The Process Improvement Analyst I will provide tactical support to terminal operations ensuring continuous improvement of processes throughout all functional areas of NC Ports, in line with organizational goals and objectives. Responsible for the implementation of continuous improvement projects and training to expand capabilities throughout NC Ports operational areas.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:- Partner with functional areas for the development and implementation of the Process Excellence (PEX) program with a scope that includes utilizing lean management, process mapping and efficiency principles.
- Prepare templates, methodologies and change management strategies to eventually cover all critical business processes with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Assist Ports leadership with driving and deploying best practices within operations, project management and administration.
- Identifying and implementing enhanced operational procedures discovered through the PEX program across all locations.
- Monitoring operational metrics relevant to the specific operational area to achieve annual KPI targets and long-term sustainability.
- Developing and documenting Operational Instructions (OI) by partnering with staff from other functional areas.
- Assist integration of the Port PEX programs, including adoption of the ECN4 functionality of NCSPA’s Terminal Operating System Navis N4 (TOS) from planning to billing with associated operational instructions i.e. SOP/OIs, Planning, Execution, Data Quality, Billing.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts for the PEX programs. This includes evaluating and enhancing continuous improvement methodologies, monitoring, and reporting information within the organization, and assisting to standardize practices, tools, and formats.
- Support and ensure the utilization of NCSPA’s TOS while streamlining all operational tools with N4 functionality to enable intelligent decision making and improved efficiency. This includes maximizing data capture and accuracy.
- Assist in driving the use of TOS and data mining tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the business and to advance data-driven decision making.
- Assist in the formation and implementation of operational process standards that will reduce the cycle times and make NCSPA more responsive and productive.
- Encourage and facilitate exchange of best practices between functional areas through workshops.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:- An associate degree in business with 3-5 years of experience in port operations or related environment is required.
- Lean Six Sigma training is preferred.
- Experience using terminal operating systems (N4) is preferred.
- Must be proficient in the use of business software and tools.
- Ability to effectively write and communicate SOPs to users.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross functional teams.
- Must be detailed oriented and comfortable in a multitasking environment and able to adjust priorities as the situation dictates.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet TWIC security requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:Normal office conditions in a climate-controlled environment. Occasional exposure to hot and cold seasonal weather while outside. Light physical activity required to perform office functions. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
