WSP is seeking a Principal Water Resources Engineer to join our large and growing technical support team in Bengaluru. The role involves working closely with our global Mining Team. The successful applicant will undertake specialized analyses and studies related to hydrology and hydrotechniques for mining water projects. This work will be carried out under the direction of a global team of mining, geotechnical, and civil engineering professionals. 

The applicant will report to the Mining Team Leader as part of WSP's GCC-IN Global Mining Team. The goal is to deliver the highest standards of technical work, contributing to the ongoing success of the mining projects by supporting the client-focused delivery of projects. Close collaboration with WSP's mining leaders will be a key aspect of the role. Technical responsibilities will include conducting hydrotechnical studies, reviewing data, and preparing inputs for reports related to mine water projects.

The successful applicant would be responsible for the following.
• Lead and manage comprehensive water resource management studies for mining projects, from
conceptual design through to implementation and optimization.
• Utilize advanced modelling and simulation tools to predict water-related risks and evaluate
mitigation measures, enabling data-driven decision-making for clients.
• Evaluating mine tailings dam integrity, encompassing computed aided models for dam break
scenarios.
• Conduct hydrological studies, including desk-based research, conceptual, analytical, and
numerical modeling, and analyze data along with input/output uncertainties.
• Conduct analysis of storms, undertake hydraulic computations, and engage in 1D/2D hydraulic
simulation to estimate floods and assess risks. This includes the preliminary design and estimation
of costs for flood mitigation measures at mining sites.
• Lead the team in the design of water management infrastructure for mines, spanning from initial
feasibility studies to detailed civil engineering stages.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth
and contributing to the overall knowledge sharing within the firm.
• Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations for clients, showcasing
project outcomes, findings, and recommendations.
• Execute project management responsibilities, such as composing reports and proposals,
interacting with clients, and offering guidance to staff members.

Key Competencies
Mandatory Skills

Experience undertaking flood related studies for environmental assessments and infrastructure
design projects across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on Mining, Water and Urban
Development sectors would be desirable.
• Total Experience 10+ Years.
• Strong knowledge hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality modelling practices and guidelines.
Proficiency in relevant Australian guidelines is preferred.
• Experience in software used for hydrology models and hydraulic models such as TUFLOW, ICM,
HEC-RAS and associated GIS software programs (QGIS).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a demonstrated ability to
apply them to Australian water resources challenges.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
