There is a personal connection to students and their families and a shared sense of responsibility for their success. 2About Calumet College of St. Joseph Calumet College of St. Joseph, founded in 1951 by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (C.PP .S.), is a vibrant private Catholic College located in Northwest Indiana, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It is the most affordable private college in Indiana and the most diverse college in Indiana. It serves students primarily from Indiana and Illinois but also students beyond the region as well as international students. CCSJ has historically been and continues to be a college of opportunity for first - generation students and non -traditional students. The College emphasizes social justice, service, and community. Students can earn baccalaureate degrees in Business Management Fast Track or Public Service Management. Graduate Degree Programs The College has six graduate programs: Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science (EXSS), Master of Science in Management (MSM), Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), and Master of Business Administration (MBA). The James and Colleen Clark House is a brand new 63 -bed, three -story residence hall on campus. Each floor has a common space, allowing ample room for studying and gathering. The Illiana is the perfect space for upperclassmen. 12Organizational Structure Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance of Calumet College of St. Joseph. This includes: •The determination of the institution’s mission and the ongoing assessment of the College’s performance in relation to it; •The development, approval, and oversight of the institution’s strategic plan and all other decisions of strategic importance; •The selection of the President and the ongoing assessment of the President’s performance; •The approval of budgets and all key financial decisions pertaining to the institution; •The support of and assistance with all major fundraising goals; •The full representation of key stakeholders’ views, including the perspectives of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, alumni, and the community at large; and •The ongoing monitoring of the College’s academic programs and the various administrative and support structures that contribute to the achievement of the College’s mission. Office of the President The President works with the Board of Trustees to advance and achieve the mission of the College. This includes the College’s academic programs and all administrative and support structures. Four Vice Presidents assist the President in this task, assuming responsibilities for Academic Affairs & Enrollment; Business & Finance; Institutional Advancement; and Student Engagement & Retention. The Athletics Department reports directly to the President. Office of Provost The Provost is responsible for the College’s academic programs and enrollment. The Provost collaborates with faculty members in developing and assessing programs of study across academic fields and disciplines. The College’s academic programs are organized into six departments: Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biomedical and Health Sciences, Business Management, Education, Humanities, and Public Service and Criminal Justice. Academic Affairs also includes Academic Advising, Academic Support Programs, General Education, Institutional Research, and Library Services. The Provost also works with the Enrollment department to develop, implement, and coordinate services that support recruiting and enrolling students. 13Office of Business and Finance The Office of Business and Finance is responsible for the College’s accounting and budgeting functions and all business operations. It includes Accounting, the Business Office, Financial Aid, Human Resources, and Payroll Services. In addition, this vice -presidential area is also responsible for maintaining the comfort and utility of CCSJ’s buildings and developing and implementing the College’s technology plan. These responsibilities include Facilities, Food Services, Information Technology, the Mailroom and Help Desk, and Security. Office of Student Engagement and Retention The Office of Student Engagement and Retention coordinates services to support the academic and personal success of each student from admission through graduation. This includes Career Services, Academic Accommodations, the First -Year Experience Program, the International Student Liaison, Residence Life, Food Pantry, Counseling, and Student Activities.Office of Institutional Advancement The Office of Institutional Advancement is responsible for annual fund and major gift development, maintaining donor and alumni relations, grant development and management, marketing, communications, publication relations, and community engagement. Faculty Senate The Faculty Senate has primary responsibility for initiating, developing, and implementing the instructional program of the College, under the supervision of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and President of the College, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. The Faculty Senate formulates academic policy covering curriculum, admissions, graduation requirements, scholarships, teaching methods, examinations, and other academic matters. It also has central responsibility for academic planning. 14Calumet College of St. Joseph is nestled on the border of the cities of Hammond and Whiting, located in the northwest corner of Indiana, within walking distance to Lake Michigan and about a 20 -minute drive from Chicago. The area is thriving, with tremendous continual growth and change. Hammond is the fifth -largest city in the state of Indiana and was recently named the most populated city in Lake County. Hammond continues to build its economic base by adding new housing, recreational venues, businesses, and employment opportunities. Whiting is known as the “Little City by the Lake” and has also undergone recent revitalization through its Lakefront Development, city parks and bike trails, and new home development.
